I was at my local Yamaha dealer the other day picking up some oil, and there sits a beautiful '08 fz6. As I was checking out the bike, one of the salesman walks over and asks me if i had any questions. I informed him that i owned a '06 fz6 and loved it, and asked what the differences were between the years. He told me that the '07s and '08s have 130hp vs the 98 that my '06 would have:eek:. I have been trying to do some research into this and have not find much on the subject. Was just wondering if any of you knew any truth to this statement?? Has anyone rode both the '04-'06 model and the '07-'08 model, did you notice a difference?

I asked how much HP my bike had at the dealership and they said the same.. but from what I've read.. it isn't true. My title says 128 HP, or whatever they claim, however.

Take it for what it's worth.

my 2008 has 98... the only reason your 08 would say any different is because it is a detuned R6 motor.. so the didnt give you the "de-tune" specs.

If the 08 fz6 model had 128hp i would be trading up right now, as that would be awesome bang for the bucks, but unfortuneatly, no leap forward has been made, pretty much the same donk in all fz6's.

I know it's a claimed 98 at the wheel, but I wonder what it is at the crank. Since horsepower on bikes is often advertised differently, and maybe there are different regulations in different places on what has to be stated, either at the wheel or crank? I know on the yamaha site it says that the r6s engine puts out 123hp, thats not at the wheel. At the wheel more like 107-110hp from the dyno graphs I've seen.

Oh, but either way, that salesman fails...NOT 130hp

Most brand measure hp at the crank. Maybe the salesman thought of an FZ1 (claimed 150 hp) with 127,7hp/11600 at rear wheel. The report I've seen on FZ6 shows power output 86,2/12100 and 55,8Nm/10200 at rear wheel.

But I like to dream that my Fz6 develops 130hp...

exactly what the dyno sheet shows, Yamaha claims 98HP out of the FZ6 but i get 90 at the wheel. Crank vs wheel HP.
