Hey guys, I've just joined the site but thought I would say hello.

I ride a black 08 FZ6N that I bought brand spankin new about 4 months ago. Its completely standard at the moment other than some white wheel tape.

Unfortunately yesterday evening I happened to have come off after locking the rear wheel on ice/gravel/salt and having a mammoth slide resulting in the bike clipping a traffic island and then hitting the deck along with myself. I'm alright but the bike has definately seen better days.

Does anyone know if scratches on the frame can be painted so it matches the rest of the frame?

I've got an 06, - and my frame feels/looks like it's powder coated,- so the only way to get a perfect result is blasting it, and powder coating it. (But then you have to dismantle the frame ....)
However painters with airbrushes have amazed me before, so I would not be surprised if a skilled air brusher could do it. Try asking your local custom paint shop, - those guys can normally work miracles.

Sorry to hear about your off. Like Fz6Sa said powercoat would be the best for the match but you have to dimantle the bike. Paint i think would be the easiest and most cost effective way to fix it.

good luck with the rebuild, the frame should be looked at by a professional though, it is aluminum and there may be small stress cracks in it from an impact like that. if it has no cracks then just sand, paint and enjoy!

+1 on getting the frame checked for straightness, stress fractures, etc.

And i am pretty sure it's paint on the frame, not powdercoat, so a decent paint shop should be able to fix it like new.

Sorry to hear about your fall, real shame about the bike as i have a black Naked and i'd weep if (when) i dropped it. Don't think i can add anything more in terms of getting it fixed but just to say I'm not far from you up near the Dartford Crossing so be good to get out when the weather perks up

Hi Tom :welcome: Sorry to hear about your fall last night but glad to hear you are ok and the bike only has a few scratches. Im always up for a ride out too.:thumbup:
I hit some black ice this morning but luckily I didnt fall but never the less it made the star fish tweak a little

Cheers for the support and advice. Hopefully it is painted and the paint shop will be able to do something about it. I'm gonna give them a call tomorrow and see what they say and get a quote but I do work with a guy whose dad works for Honda so he MIGHT be able to sort me out.

When the weathers nicer I'd be well up for a ride to those of you that live close. There's some great routes round here.

Sorry to hear about your off. At least you're OK! The bike can be fixed or replaced but no one can replace you!

Right an update. The Painter has quoted me £255 for the tank, frame and engine scratches. Now all I have to do is ask my mates dad at Honda what price he can do for me. I have been offered a brand new black tank for £200. Is this a good price? Would it be worth doing?

I am sorry to hear that you have crashed, glad to hear that you are OK.

If you have fully comp why don't you claim?
That way you know its fixed properly.

Make sure you check out the rear portion of your frame (sub-frame?), they are tweaked easily and it changes the way your bike feels, etc.

I am glad you are ok! Welcome to the scratched and dented club! I had a kid decide that he wanted my lane more than I did on the Interstate when my bike was only 4 months old! I have since put 70 plus thousand miles on my "totaled" FZ6! At least now you don't have to worry about scratching it!

I would make a quote but the problem is I'm a poor student and so therefore had to get 3rd party, fire and theft which mega sucks
