90.13HP
44.25 ft-lbs of torque

Bone Stock
Just 2 basic single gear runs. 4th gear top speed was 127mp/h (on the machine at least...)

Now as soon as i have $ i can start modding!!!

Nice! Now you have numbers to start from. What are you planning first? New Exhaust with a PCIII, or are you doing the cut/rip/weld on the stocker?

I am dying to find a picture or write up of an FZ6 that I think had a CBR type can. I could have sworn I saw it once.:don'tknow:

I think that little blip at 8K is interesting. I definitely feel it, and there it is on paper to verify I'm not just crazy.

Did they have an air fuel read out on the run?

They had the probe but it wouldn't fit in the stock muffler.... it went in but they could only get the tip in so they couldn't use it, I was one of the lucky ones that actually got the torque readout as well, seems like one of my friends that i grew up with works at the dyno place now, he is just a pee-on in terms of jobs at the bike shop, but it was good enough to get them to try to do the entire readout instead of just HP, so future ones may just have HP until i get it actually tuned after i do my mods.

My plans are up in the air, i have been toying with making my own exhaust, buying a cheap stock exhaust and gutting it, PCIII at some point, gutting the cat vs cat elim. pipe... Knowing me it will be all about how much $ I have and when i have it. and I will probably do a mix and match of it all...

Yeah, they have the event 2-3 times per summer, so i am thinking of trying to do the mods in between and just use those for approximates, then i will have it tuned properly

That is a very smart way to do it, one bit at a time and see what it does. It does cost more in the long run, but for me, I like to know what each change does.

About 10 years ago I was tuning an '87 Porsche Carrera. I started with a baseline run, did an SSI exhaust, then a K&N pod filter, then high compression pistons and SC cams. Finally I had a custom chip made to "tie" the whole thing together. Each change I documented the performance difference with a dyno run, typically did three and then averaged them. Usually once or twice a year the local Porche club would do a Dyno Day and it was $50.00 for three runs, so the cost wasn't too bad. When I finally sold the car the buyer really liked the fact I had all of the receipts and the dyno sheets to back up what I had done. I've bumped into people who are still in the club and they've said the car has changed hands a couple of times, and each new owner is really amazed at how well the 21 year old car runs again the newer Boxters, the newer Carreras smoke it.

LOL that little blip at 8,000RPM surely coincides with the vibrations we feel as the beast is unleashed, and has been mentioned in a few other threads...

Thanks for the post, it is a great opportunity to see a stock Fizzer's HP curve.

Yup, yup ,yup...

Maybe it was the FZ6 Cup pics from Australia? They run a single can under the seat. There's no reason we cannot do the same if you want to fabricate.

Thanks Rob!

One cheap mod that would be cool to see if it makes a difference is the mild airbox mod with the K&N air filter. Thoughts?

Haven't decided how many steps I will take, i might make just 2 more steps, one to make it breath and one to get a chip, then one final to get the chip tuned (depends on how the chip alone looks)

Breathing step would be K&N, Airbox mod (larger opening, not the holes drilled in), and some sort of exhaust (might become 2 steps with my custom built when i get to it and a gutted stock can).

Ok! I modded my airbox while I had the tank up to install the Battery Tender lead. I did the same interior mod as everyone else by removing the entire plastic side of the snorkel facing the air filter. I took it a step further by cutting a half-moon out of the top-front of the snorkel. Now, looking at it from, say... the steering-head POV, you can see the air filter looking across the top of the cover. She's got a great amount of room to breathe freely!

First impression is much more responsive throttle throughout. Better pickup you'd expect from throttle response increasing. A "throaty" sound as she pulls more air in right from idle on up! I'd say it put a little more PEP in her!

It may be subtle but I like the changes it made... A LOT!

Not-Quite-So-Mild Airbox Mod:

pics? time to complete? maybe i will do this on Saturday when i do another oil change

Now how come that the FZ6 is supposed to have 98hp, and you only got 90.13??

The 98 HP is at the crank, you lose a good bit of power through the drive train and in the wheels, manufacturers use crank specs on bikes because it sounds better. (Same deal with cars, they measure at the flywheel and not at the drive tires)

And cars can lose 15-20% depending on FWD or RWD and the specific transmission. I'd say losing 8 or 9% on a bike isn't bad at all.
