I was on my way to work today and I suddenly get a phone call from my friend saying "I just found out your father was in the Hospital." The hospital is Barnes Jewish which is about 80 minute drive from where I was. So I dropped all my things and drove straight up there.
He was riding with the Amvets group until some riders in front had to slow down pretty hard, and being how big my father's 1600 pro star bike or w/e his back end slid out from under him while doing 60mph. This took place near St louis on I-64.
Luckily he was riding with maximum gear on. Helmet, gloves, chaps, boots the works. However, he was only wearing it all because it was like 40 degrees this morning. Usually he rides in a vest, jeans, skullcap, boots. Thank God it was cold out this morning other wise his face would of been torn apart going by this helmet.
The damages are: Left Broken / Dislocated Wrist, Broken Finger, Possibly broken Rib, something with knee cap (not sure yet). He told me he was conscious the entire time. He rolled down the Interstate 60 MPH.....Crazy stuff.
So many thoughts went through my head so quickly: Death, Paralyzed, Worse injuries, my Mother, Selling my bike (why I don't know, Guess I was scared)... I didn't know any of this till the 80 minute ride of hell was over. Those 80 minutes felt like years.
He will be fine, He will be sore for a week or two. Not how I intended for a Saturday to go. I'll keep you posted.
Fu**ing bastard is lucky and he was still worried about his leaves lol
I havent seen the bike yet. I will post them later when it makes it home.
