Is there anyone on this forum that actually had the good sense to remap with any of these aftermarket exhaust pipes?

Seriously....you may think it runs great without remapping.....but trust me....it don't...it can't.....and it never will.

Um yes, many many of us. Just do a search, for example, for "custom map" for a start. My LVs and PC3 arrive next week and I'm heading straight for the dynamometer.

I can't believe Scorpions R&D guys got it so wrong.

"Spend £500 on our exhausts,oh and then spend another £250 on a dyno, because it won't run well by putting our pipes on it"

I can see the adverts now "Choose Scorpion, the exhaust that will make your bike sound good, but run crap" :D

I have Scorpions and have not dyno'd or remapped.

Runs perfectly. Have I missed something in this thread?

Certainly. Some new poster came along and told us we're all morons if we think our bikes run well with aftermarket exhaust and no tuning....

Sure, you can slightly increase efficiency and/or power with a tune, even on a stock motorcycle, but a motorcycle with improved exhaust flow will see a power gain with or without a tune. It's been proven time and time again. It's not like we're putting fifteen pounds of boost on the motorcycle and changing camshaft profiles. :)

Personally, I can't stand how the piggy-back power commander type devices work and would much rather have the factory ECM re-programmed, like I do in my car. I don't think anyone does reprogramming on the FZ6 though.

He's a troll. It happens.

yup!

Correct. Actually, the MAP sensor makes up for increased airflow and the FZ6 does a pretty good job of adjusting on it's own even though it officially won't.

Wikipedia definition of internet troll:

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

I don't see Ixil anywhere in here. Is there any dyno/weight information on them? I know someone on here had them and the y pipe seemed better than some, where they are more of an h. I also like how they look almost stock, except they aren't plastic covers.

Here's a sound clip of them with silencers removed, not mine, I'm still deciding:

Well, I do apologize if I offended you. I put the  winky-thumbs up smilie in there to get try to get my slightly exaggerated response to your somewhat trolling statement across....

Yes, I think that my FZ6 runs quite fine with stock ECM and aftermarket exhaust. Actually, I'm sure that it does, and there's nothing that you can do to prove to me otherwise.

Seriously, the minimal amount of change by adding a freer-flowing exhaust is not going to knock the factory tune off kilter. I have a heavily modified car (heads/cam/headers/etc.) with a retuned PCM, but before I heavily modified the car, it had a stock tune and a cat-back exhaust. Guess what, it too ran fine like that.

I do agree that I could probably extract more power from my FZ6 if I had it tuned, but quite frankly, I'm not going to spend hundreds of dollars on a power commander and a dyno tune, in order to pick up five additional horsepower and also have my fuel mileage go into the crapper.

I'm quite happy with my smooth running, powerful feeling, 45MPG getting, 2004 FZ6 with Laser Quad exhaust.

Thank you.....and i don't blame you a bit if you chose not to spend $500 to make it run better. As long as you know that it COULD be better with a proper map...that is the only point i was making. Thanks again.

I wasn't calling you a name as much as I was defining your actions.

You wanna come meet me face to face? No problem. I'll buy you dinner and we can talk about bikes.

Sure...what's the name of that Yamaha shop you work at? I'll stop by and say hello.

YouTube - Ixil Fz6 Déchicané

Sent Ixil an email requesting a dyno chart for the FZ6, I will let you know what the results are. In the meantime, I have posted your video in the original post.

Thanks

Ixil Exhaust Response to email request for dyno chart:

Here enclosed I'm sending you pictures of our product for your information.

Regarding the dyno graphs, we don't agree with this type of comparative unless it was made by specialists on exactly same conditions.
For example in this comparative, you might check that dyno charts are not made in equal conditions for all exhausts.

Just if you look the noise level at 6000 rpm, it shows that they are comparing restricted mufflers (baffle mounted) with open/nearly open mufflers which obviously gives very different values.

As well, different power bench, different atmospheric conditions, different motorcycles (event of the same model) also the engine temperature gives completly different results. If you make 4-5 tests with the same bike on the same conditions, you will get 4-5 different charts, so unless engine is not in the optimum temperature results will not be the right ones.

For any question don't hesitate to contact us.

I know you are kidding, but actually, I thought that was a very honest answer

Very much in line with what many have been saying in this and other threads, hp is variable for many reasons.
