Do you know EXACTLY how far your FZ will go on the flashing fuel indicator?

I've gone a bit over 40 km with blinking fuel light and wow! was that an uncomfortable ride! Well, I was practically in the middle of nowhere so the urge to reach the gas station was a bit exaggerated.

I always let mine go into flash-mode before I fill up, but then I'm rarely more than 20km away from a station. Here's the record....

Kms Litres Kms/Lt Cents/Km
246.8 13.71 18.00145879 6.89
239.2 14.9 16.05369128 7.72
252.0 15.09 16.69980119 8.20
261.7 15.18 17.2397892 7.82
262.0 14.95 17.52508361 8.04
251.0 15.28 16.42670157 8.58
249.4 14.74 16.91994573 8.21
258.2 15.1 17.09933775 8.30
270.4 15.27 17.70792403 8.01
249.6 15 16.64 8.29

However I think I'll probably feel a lot more comfortable after reading about 80km! I should be able to hit 300km no probs.

I did 330k's from memory on a longer trip with the fuel light flashing for the last 55kms.
Was open road riding, very conservative once I passed 3 petrol stations all closed or shut down permanently. It didn't take the full amount either, I think it had about a litre left.
Again though it was massively open roads cruising at 120-130, so not much stress on the bike.
I've had the flashing light after 150km's since then when I commute and stay in the powerband.

I don't remember how far I was on ftrip but when I filled up I put 4.8 gallons in. Normally fill after I've reached about 15 miles into the reserve.
Wow! 4.8 gallons? That's gotta be some precision pit stopping (unless the pump is ripping you off).

When mine gets low it flashes and tells me how many miles i got left. I just listen to the numbers and try to make it in before it runs out. :D

The furthest I've gone on a tank is 278 km (about 65 km on the F-trip) and still only put in 17.86 Litres.

The furthest I've gone on a tank is 173 miles (about 40 miles on the F-trip) and still only put in 3.93 Imp. gallons / 4.72 US gallons.

The range on F-Trip is about 50 miles for me. I found this out at work. Went to start my bike, figured I'd check how much gas I had. I opened the tank, moved the bike around, and heard nothing. Made it about a tenth of a mile from work when the engine was starving for fuel. I rolled into the gas station at the end of the street.

I can do about 250 miles being nice to the bike and using every drop of gas, only done that a few times though. My last fillup was about 200 miles and the one before that was at 188 or so; I haven't been nice to my bike lately :)

I generally see it start blinking "E" and head for the nearest station. That usually works well for me.

I did manage to get into "blinky territory" while on the blue ridge parkway [scenic mountain road with no businesses allowed] and it took me close to 30 miles to find a gas station. I was more than a little tense by the time we found a gas station, but it didn't run out on me.

Every time I hit reserve I record the miles travelled on reserve, how much fuel is required to fill the tank, and from that how much fuel was theoretically left in the tank to calculate the theoretical range based on the fuel mileage I get. Pretty consistently it calculates 52-53 miles are possible. Needless to say, anything over 40-45 I am in full fuel saving strategy and searching for a station.

Hi,

I just bought a black used 2008 FZ6.

I wondered how far we could go. It's cool that there's a special, automatic trip meter just for low fuel. That's how the bike was delivered to me from the dealer - flashing!

Unfortunately I found out today exactly how far my FZ will go once the fuel indicator starts flashing...53.3 miles! I knew it was low but figured I could make it to a gas station, made it about 1/4 mile from my house when it died. Luckily it was a short push home and mostly downhill. A little gas from my lawn mower gas can and I was on my way! Does this make me a :squid:?
were you crawing to get that MPG? I got 24 miles before I had to push not funny in full gear lol.
