If you have a look at the Comfortably Numb F/B page:
https://www.facebook.com/ComfortablyNumbRockAndBlues?ref=hl
bother Simon has posted his set list with due reverence to JJJ as the beginnings for some local acts and then into some mighty stuff by Zappa, Lou Reed and Chicago
Altogether, I reckon this weeks show will be well listenable

As he says: "Rock Is"
and as I paraphrase Frank Zappa: "Music Is The Best"
One quote missing is by Deep Purple's Ritchie Blackmore: "Can I Have Everything Louder Than Everything Else?"
Hope you can get a listen

getting this weeks show together I went a bit overboard and had enough for at least two shows. So I picked this set for Thursday night and I'm saving the bluesy jazz or jazzy blues for the 19th of March.
so this is what I came up with, I hope there is something there that suits your mood:

Yesterday's Numbers—The Flamin' Groovies
Never Happy—Sultans Of Slide
Hey-Ba-Ba-Re-Bop—Elvin Bishop
Livin' a Lie—Sugar Ray & The Bluetones
Don't Lose Your Cool—Tab Benoit
Chaos Streams—Son Volt
The Lady's Letter—Pops Staples
You Didn't Try To Call Me—Dweezil Zappa
Black's Mandolin Boogie—Otis Taylor
How Many More Years—-TModel Ford And GravelRoad
Smell The Funk—Buddy Guy
Trouble Man—Jimmy Thackery

as Frank would say: Music Is The Best!

A bit off topic here. Do you guys from Australia like the band "The Church"?
I just saw them in concert last week. I have been a fan of theirs since the mid 80's.

Yep they are still around. They are on tour promoting their 25th album, Further/Deeper. They are a unique bad that will never be back on the top 40 and always will be a one hit wonder from the 80’s. I have almost 300 of their songs on my iPod. The new album is missing one of my favorite guitarists of all time, Marty Willson-Piper. He left the band in 2013 and was replaced with guitarist Ian Haug from Powderfinger.

Agreed that they are not a must see band. Their live performance is horrible. But to me it was worth it since I have every album and they were on my bucket list.

well its been awhile since I promoted the show and actually its been a month since I was on air so it all kinda fits in place.
I posted this last night on FB as I was searching out what to play:
-

getting ready for Thursdays show and came across this little gem on the "tube"
https://youtu.be/Aa1JR-TgPfU
so I think its going to get a run- slightly different version and the sound will be a bit better but always worth a look
see you all 6pm, just after TheIlleagles on 3WBC 94.1fm
remember: Music Is The Best-FZ

and I finished putting it together last night but was a bit weary aftyer listening to the whole show 2-3 times- I really enjoyed the tracks, so anyway this is what I posted on FOOK ( oh facebook, sorry, thats the abbreviation in my bookmarks):-

ok is this piquing your interest for Thursday night?

Son Of Orange County - Frank Zappa & The Mothers
More Trouble Every Day - Frank Zappa & The Mothers
Money to Burn - Dani Wilde ( Samantha Fish)
Tears Of Joy - Robert Randolph & The Family Band
The Healer - John Lee Hooker & Charlie Musselwhite
Somebody Was Watching - Pops Staples
Last Man In Town - Bondi Cigars
Bitter Tears - - Doyle Bramhall II------------

------thats hour 2 of the show, Brother Simon is yet to surprise us with his offerings but I reckon on past form, you should be well pleased... Remember, as Frank says: "Music Is The Best"

If any of that suits what you might want to hear, AEST this Thursday 6-8pm

The link you posted wants to go through face book which my script blocking stops.

Here's a link right to the Youtube video:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aa1JR-TgPfU&feature=youtube"]YouTube[/ame]

Zappa was incredible! Later his son Dweezil did Sons of Orange County which featured another great guitarist (Steve Via) who did some internship with Frank Zappa.

For me this was the place fusion was born. When I first heard the Mother's of Invention I couldn't believe how music so well crafted and written could be so funny and it was rock but also Jazz.

Ade,
Thanks for bringing this great music to your audience!

Here's Dweezil and Steve among many other awesome musicians.

I have to laugh and maybe this should have gone into the other thread.....
.. Simon is playing "waiting for my man" by Lou Reed, so what pic did he use to illustrate this on the FB page for the radio show.....well it has to be 125th and Lexington.

WE had both hoped to get there when we in NY two years back, but time was against us. But Kez and I did a week later
She took the shot as she fended off offers of all sorts of illicit proposals...
kudos to the missus for getting the shot
funny thing is that at that intersection is a pharmacy- are drugs totally legit now?

Well! Well! Well!, as R.L Burnside would say, its that time again.
I have dug out a few veryold favs as well as some new music that is fast becoming part of the favoured CD choices in the agf household.
I know Kazza will be well pleased with some of the Vaughan Brothers,
and I figure Cliff knows all about "Filthy Habits"

yes I know that reads really badly.

but if you want to know more, and that title meant nothing to you, you should try to listen in to the show. This is the list of what I hope to play:
Tin Pan Alley-Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble
Lost In You-Jimmie Vaughan
The Blues Is Here To Stay-Tab Benoit
Nick-Songhoy Blues
Forty-Four-GravelRoad
Jungle-Anson Funderburgh & the Rockets
Money Is My Downfall -Sam Myers
Blues Is Good For You-James Cotton
Sloppy Drunk-Michael Bloomfield
Filthy Habits-Frank Zappa
Across the Atlantic-The Budos Band

all the details for tuning in:
