I got handed a $400 voucher for the Garage in Strathalbyn.
Only problem is I can not decide what I should get with it. Options so far:

Power Commander III
Braided brake lines
Wave Discs

I am thinking the PCIII would be the best choice but still can not commit to buying it.

Penny for your thoughts guys?

You should just send me that voucher if you don't know what to do with it;)

Another option.

Upgrade front suspension to R6 forks.

It will have the best improvement to the bike than any of the options you listed.

Also a quick question, what's the purpose of the wave rotors?

Is it an aesthetic thing only or it actually has some performance benefit?

You can pick up a PCIII a lot cheaper than $400, and a full set of braided lines will set you back $95 (or that's what they cost me)

Maybe get some work done?

Cheers,
Rick

R6 shocks sound kinda cool but this is a retail shop guys. They would charge me more than that just in parts.

Same with the PCIII. This is not ebay prices we are contemplating.

They don't charge me quite THAT much. Got like a 40% discount on my 40k service which they would have lost money on for sure..

How much did your 42000kms service cost? (I guess you got your valves checked/reshimmed?)

And how does one get a 40% discount? I rang them just before I posted the service charge.

When I asked the chick what the hourly rate was, she said $97, but that was the wrong question, what I should have asked was 'how good are they'

Then I said she was nearly $20/hr more expensive than others - so she said to go there then. (i.e. We don't want your business)

Cheers,
Rick

Firstly my mates and I go there often.
Secondly I asked for a quote for the 40k service. They asked me who else quoted and what the best price was.

Marylou decided to match it to win my business. I was very impressed with their work and was disappointed in Bills Motorcycles as they had not replaced the stock filter at the 20 or 30k service and it was filthy.

They replaced the fork oil, checked the valves and all the usual stuff. They even detailed the bike. The ride home was great.

I got my wifes bike serviced there recently and again was impressed with the work done. I just get the feeling they are genuinely good at what they do and are worth the extra $.

And how much did it cost?

I'm looking to get my 42000km service soon.

Did your valves need adjusting?

Cheers,
Rick

Cost me around $700. Will have to find the paperwork.
Why do you keep saying 42k?

Also lets not forget they will give you a loan bike while they work on yours!

It cost you around $700, and you reckon you saved 40%?

That's more expensive than EVERY other shop I got quotes from! (Even Tucker Motorcycles here in Mt Barker, that charge $108/hr!)

Did they adjust your valve clearances, or were they all in spec, and they only had to check them?

Cheers,
Rick

Just thinking about it, if you saved 40%, and still paid $700, then full price of that service would have been nearly $1200! ($1166.67)

The HIGHEST quote I got was $680! (and I'm trying to improve on THAT!)

If you're happy with them, then great - I'd just hate for a fellow rider to be taken so badly, without letting him know.....

Cheers,
Rick

That is why I shopped around myself last year.
They checked the valves but no adjustment was needed. General consensus on the forums is that it is not needed but I wanted them checked for peace of mind.

Had another idea...how about a GOPro. They can not slug me too much more than retail for one of those!
