Think it's a little more than I want to spend on a track bike. Would be a nice bike to have though
I'd really like an Aprilia RS250 for a track bike, two strokes are the best, but too much cost at this point.
Hey I saw a photo of one of your Tee's on the back, inside cover of the May Sport Rider mag. Nice!
I was mistaken, this is Yamaha number six. I forgot the '82 XZ550, nee: Vision.

I was shocked when I saw the title of the thread and you as the poster! Congrats on the new ride! Very nice looking bike. :thumbup:
You did so much with the Buell. It was always fun reading about the stuff you were doing mod wise and performance wise with it. Kind of sad to hear it's being put back to stock and sold. But you gotta do what you gotta do.
All this talk about new bikes makes me want to go out for a spin. My bike still seems brand new to me, as I got it only 2-3 weeks before having to store it for the winter.

The Buell is very fun but it is time to move on. I'd gotten to the point of pouring money down a hole for what I wanted to accomplish. We did prove that the Rotax is an amazing motor and totally untapped in stock form.
Needless to say the FZ1 will be modded to a degree. I'm in the middle of reseaching the best solutions for what I want to accomplish.

That fz1 is beautiful!!! I'm so Freakin Jealous!!! the thing is a beast too ain't it !!! yamaha realy knows how to build an engine don't they!!! :rockon: 
It's rather tame under 7k when stock. But, a few easy mods, some of them are free, and it really wakes up the beast at about 5k and hold the $##%@ on at 7k! She's going FAST!

Well I did a little digging into the bike today and from what I found the prior owner seemed to know what he was doing. I found all of his suspension setting in the owner manual, a K&N oil filter, a Cobra FI2000 tuning box thingie (at sane settings), and overall the bike is very tight.
As Eric says the motor is pretty tame below 6,500/7,000, but above that is scream. As I left the dealership yesterday I wicked it on and felt my butt slide back and hit the rear seat. I was wishing I was on my Buell with the steeper seat to hold me on the bike! It's fast.
I gotta figure out how the remove the gas tank to see what else has been done. It runs very nice.
I've got a nice list of mods.
1) SV650 risers to lower the bar
2) PC3 or PC5, I got a call into AF1 Racing to see what they recommend
3) Rearsets; probably Rizoma
4) Steel Braided Brake Lines; Goodridge
5) Recover the slick Cordin
6) Rear shock, Ohlins I suppose
The rest of the bike is super tight, I'm very impressed with it.
Once I get a baseline dyno tune done I'll look into the know FZ1 mods for the FI system.
