Last year I was still riding at the end of November. Today (Oct. 15) we're getting snow. Time to stabilize the fuel tank and put down the center stand for a few months. Dammit! :(
We survived! I met up with Cheryl at noon yesterday and we did a full loop. 150 miles + by the time I got back home. More than that for Cheryl, as she had to make the effort to get north an hour and a half before we even started.
It turned out to be a fairly warm afternoon with the sun...
It looks like Adirondack Jack, Have2befree, and possibly Drubowski and K1c are going to meet up around noon on Sunday for a mountain/twisty tour. The plan so far is to meet at exit 28 or 29 off the Northway around noon on Sunday and go from there. The loop I have in mind is about a hundred mile...
....the good 'ol USA. 234 yrs. old by my count. :cheer:
We've got 2 chickens oiled up and rubbed with garlic and herbs and ready for the beer can to be inserted in their....(ahem). We've got more that a few dozen clams ready to steam. We've got a cooler full of brewski's and a powerful...
Deer wins. Wife Maggie smacked a healthy doe this AM on her way to work. She's fine, the deer is dead, and so is the Vibe. What a way to start the day. The Pontiac performed as designed with a lot of impact dissipated through the front panels and bracket structure. I arrived with knife in hand...
Something like 10,000 bikes will be there from last weekend, through this week, and this coming weekend. It's now combined with the nearby Warrensburg Bike Week (5 miles north). It's primarily Harley's, Gold Wings, Trikes, and other cruisers. I saw very few sport bikes today. Wore my Forum...
This 12V power point mod is covered more than once in the Forum so I won't belabor the issue except to cover my own particular details with a couple of pics attached.
I've been wanting to do this for some time but what was really holding me back was how to make the connection. Straight to...
I'm assuming there are both associated with the Forum. Check out this video. I've researched it and it appears legit. In any case it's pretty cool!

It was 60+ yesterday. This what it looked like in the driveway this morning. We're under a NWS Winter Storm Warning. Could be up to a foot of new stuff in the higher elevations. Just when I was getting comfy in the saddle again after a long, cold winter. No rides this week. Grrrr. :banghead:
Already 45 deg. here at 10:45 AM. It's gonna hit 60+. I plan to hit the road after lunch.
K1c scored a used tank bag (free) that just happened to be red. He passed it along to me. With some clips and strap from the local climbing/hiking supply store (The Mountaineer) I have it rigged up and...
It was an OK day here. 50 deg. and partly sunny. I caved in and geared up for the first ride of the season. Even though I know it's too early to ride, the main roads are nice and clear of sand and salt. Sooo.....off I go. At 30 miles from home I decide to head back home by a different route...
It's 42 deg. F here and I decided to crank the FZ over. Absolutely no hesitation before ignition. You gotta love fuel injection. That's only the second time I've started it since Dec. No battery tender on the original battery ('07) and there was no loss of cranking power. I low revved it up to...
And there was much rejoicing in the mountains. Kinda. yay.
12-18" predicted for northern NY. It'll be good for the ski areas. They are definitely hurting. It'll be interesting for anyone who just rescued a dog from SC who's never seen snow in his young life. The dog, I mean. Yep- That...
Hey my Aussie brethren! I'm sitting here in upstate NY, it's snowing like a bitch, it's colder than a witches tit out with wind chills to boot, and I'm watching your boy Begg-Smith compete in the freestyle How the hell did you score one of the best in the world, and a Vancouver native besides...
I posted this on a different thread already but thought it might be better suited to this section.
I have a Saddlemen TS3200 soft tail bag for my FZ6. I paid about 85 bucks for it with free shipping.
Pluses +
It wraps over the passenger seat so you have deeper side pockets like...
The day started out with a discouraging hard frost here in the High Peaks, but by 10 AM it was warming nicely. It didn't take too long to round up 2 mates with a promise of "Let's go. I'll buy lunch". We headed south to Ticonderoga, NY, leaving Keene Valley, NY about 1 PM. We took the 10 min...
