What's supposed to be in an 04 toolkit?

According to my 04 service manual (04-06-Assembly-LIT-11666-17-50.pdf), no pliers as standard. OWNER’S TOOL KIT 1. Owner’s tool bag 1 pc. 2. Wrench (10-12) 2 pc. 3. Wrench (22-24) 1 pc. 4. Special wrench 1 pc. (I think this is the rear suspension one) 5. Extension bar 1 pc. (and this...

    What is this pipe?

Scottoiler works a treat. I've done about 16,000 miles on the chain/sprockets and both are still looking good. It's a bit fiddly setting it up the first time as you have to adjust the flow rate so it's fast enough to drip 1 drop /min or so, but not so fast that it pours all over you garage...

    What is this pipe?

It looks like the remains of a scottoiler connection like mine. Hux's Bike Blog: Give me a lever, oil me up, and I'm happy. Last picture on that page circled in yellow. Maybe a previous owner kept the scottoiler end and taped up this bit?

Buying FZ6 Fazer before test / insurance

I got mine insured before I passed my test, but only because I bought it and arranged to trade in my 125 the day after my test.... which I failed on the u-turn. I had to get someone else to ride it home for me then it sat in the garage as I failed the damn u-turn another 2 times before...

    Tail light not showing braking

Yep. 1157 is the one you're looking for. I've had a couple of them go pop but at least they're really easy to swap out. Amazon will post you a pair for not a lot of money (just search for 1157 ... one to replace the broken one, the other as a spare for next time) or Halfords will overcharge you...

Where are you mounting your GoPro?

I've tried a couple of different locations for the goPro. On the helmet (with laser targeting) :- Hux's Bike Blog: Now available in HD On the front forks:- Hux's Bike Blog: Skeggy or bust I found that you get more vibrations on the forks though (you can seen in one of the pics there...

Anyone ever hit a Rabbit / Hare

I hit a chicken once. The chicken came 2nd. It ran straight out, I braked, it went in front of my wheel then turned around and dived under it. Not the brightest of animals those chickens  Apart from a small bump as I went over it I didn't feel a thing. I suspect the chicken felt...

    04 FZ6 Mod questions

For the headlight mod I'd highly recommend getting the kit from bd43. You get the harness all made up and just have to slot it into place. It comes with full printed instructions with plenty of pictures so you know what to do. Boneman has a copy of the instructions on his site along with a...

    2004 FZ6 BD43 headlight mod help.......

I did this on my 2004 Fz6 with BD43's kit a while ago. The battery box doesn't come all the way out but does slide backwards once you get the airbox out and then you can get to the connector you're after nestled in the front there. If you want the box all the way out (looking at the service...

    Speedometer accuracy

In the UK I think the speedo accuracy has to be -0% -> +10%. I.e. it always has to read at least what your real speed is, or higher. That way if you get clocked speeding you have no excuses as it never reads under what you are actually doing.

how fast u going at 5000 rpm 6th gear

Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Speed, RPM, Chain & Sprockets Calculator It has maps for FZ6 and also up and down on the front and back sprockets. I GPS'd my bike the other days and 110 mph was really 98 mph. (It was a nice day )

My gear stinks! Should I wash it?!

I threw mine in the bath, warm water, and one of those dissolving washing powder thingies. Loads of grot came out so I think it worked. Seems fine now. Not quite as harsh as a spin cycle, but doesn't take long either.

    Wobbly brake light

Mine's exactly the same on 2004 Fazer. It looks like it's moving more than it should but I've done 10,000 miles on it and it's still there. I only noticed when I washed it and saw it move. Would be interested if everyone else is the same or if we're both missing the same bit.

Why would my horn blow my fuses?

The horn is probably taking enough current at startup to blow the fuse. When something takes that much you should put a relay in and then a fused connnection just for that thing back to the battery. The horn line then switches the relay on and off, but carries very little current. This guy...

    Bike wont start

Sounds like what happened to mine a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was the battery struggling so charged it overnight. Still turned over but wouldn't start. Then I tried starting it and wound the throttle right open while holding the starter down and it barked into life. Was fine starting...
