Found something faster than my FZ6... thinking of upgrading

Ya know how many times that bird had to be re-fueled during a mission? 1st refill came upon taking off.

COLD RIDING! It's that time of year again...How do you stay warm?

Did a 150-mile ride today in high 30-degree [am] and mid-40's [pm] weather. Long underwear, turtleneck, scarf, insulated insert under sweat shirt, w/insulated riding jacket, heavy wool socks. Hands still got cold in morning with gloves w/liners. Really thinking of heated gloves.

How come Yamaha Dealers declare the '06 and earlier FZ1's are superior to the newer FZ1?

Drilling the stock exhaust - quick poll...

Did the exhaust drilling mod. I used a 1/2"-12" long Aviation drill [$12 US]. Same price as a masonry drill. Drilled two holes into each exhaust port, reamed holes out more. No problems, but use low rpm's on drill. Cuts better. Result: Considering the price of aftermarket exhausts this...

Why am I here Poll; Own, once owned, wish to own an FZ6

Own '08 FZ6. Bought it getting back into riding after a 30-year break. Was a Triumph freak. FZ6 is a tough bike to upgrade from. 'Bout the only place to go is with a 1-liter, and then I don't believe the move is a quantum leap.

    Difficulty selecting neutral.

My FZ6 has a quirk in it likes to feel the rear wheel moving to shift in conditions your described. Don't know if this is unique to my bike or the FZ6 nature. I also found just letting the clutch out enough to trip the transmission will allow shifting as FB4 wrote.

    *Da Boss* orders Buddy Pegs

"Da Boss"...aka: Wife...ordered me to put buddy pegs on the FZ6 so she can "Ride, Sally, Ride" and be "Born To Be Wild". Previous bike owner removed the pegs, but left the buddy peg mounting frame on Those things aren't cheap. What's a good aftermarket pair of Buddy Pegs fitting an '08...

Test rode the FZ8 and FZ1, and impressions vs. the FZ6

Many thanks for the write-up. I was able to ride the FZ8 the other day, but wasn't able to compare to the 1. You reaffirmed my impressions although my riding style hasn't used all the FZ6's hp...yet. Enjoy your FZ1! Good looking machine!

VERY low mileage 2008 - Value?

It sounds like a nice, USED bike, but the fellow's price is fanciful IMHO. Check out NADA Website for value in your area on this bike. NADA is more real world than Kelly. In my region this bike be $4200 to $4500; average price. If you're financing banks will only loan 90% book value...

    Tried a FZ8

Think you folks are right-on. Don't get me wrong. FZ8 is a great looking bike and I doubt there was much difference in the handling from a 6. The additional 50-lbs weight might make it less apt to be thrown around by winds, The 800cc might make it more attractive riding two-up. BUT, I...

    Tried a FZ8

Local dealership got two FZ8's to his floor plan. He's sold one. I got to see and feel the other one today. Nice bike, but aside from the handlebars and seat it felt pretty much like my present FZ6. I kept wondering why would a person trade a perfectly good FZ6 in on an *8*...

Help deciding which bike to get

If you finance, banks will only cover 90% of book retail. An '08 FZ6 book price in Upstate New York is $4200. So, do your math. I bought a private sale '08 by 1st owner with less than 900-miles. Great price and purchase, even though it had a low speed drop [One scuf mark I cleaned up...

What is the license procedure where you live?

To amplify 08FZ6 on New York: a. Age has restrictions for license, or even taking the licensing test. b. All new motorcycle endorsements have a six-month probationary period. Speeding and Reckless driving has you re-starting from batter box. c. Had a 30 year break in riding. Had...
