So last Saturday around 4:00 my wife and I decide to hop on the FZ and go camping for a couple of nights. I got off work at 5:15 or so and by 7 we were loaded up and on the road. We rode south about 100 miles to Sam A Baker State Park which has very nice camping facilities and the required (at least by us) water in which to relax. We arrived about 8:30 (after filling up with 93 octane in Fredericktown, MO for $3.70/gal :cheer: ) and set up our tent in a vacant basic camp site. We were about 150 feet off Big Creek which was supposedly up pretty high due to all the flooding this year. There were several middle eastern families camping near us and lemme tell ya.... those women are tough to be running around in burkas when the temp was near 100F in the daytime. After a night in the tent sleeping on sand (not the most comfortable... to say the least) we were awakened by the 5am chanting of our neighbors. I dunno if they were praying or what, but it was pretty "discovery channel"-like. Sunday we spent the day relaxing in the creek and hiking to the "shut-ins" and swimming there. Had a great time and the weather wasn't as hot as Saturday had been. Monday, we packed up and headed back meeting up with friends to enjoy a water park as my intake temperature on the FZ was reading 102F consistently and 104 occasionally.

But what an awesome getaway. Pretty hard to beat nature and the forest.:thumbup:
