Northeast FZ6 Meet - Aug 23rd 2008

Re: Northeast FZ6 Meet - Interested?

If we can work out all of the house/pet/kid watching will be:

Josh - My husband (ZZR1200)

Brian (RIII) & Carol(Honda VTX1300)-they still need to get back to me but they sound like they really want to go, I should have an answer soon :)

Deb

Cool! I'll await your final word and list you all as tentative for now.

I know what you mean about leaving them home... We're trusting our 21 yr old daughter for two weeks with the house and pets. The good news if we have some close neighbors who will call us if the rules are broken. ;)

Re: Northeast FZ6 Meet - Interested?

I'd be game to go. I love riding up there too. Only a 2hr ride from where I am ( RI/MASS line.)

Count me in, may have 2-3 more coming also. Have to check with them.

Excellent Dave! I will add you to the list and await your word on any additional people. Thanks!!

My father in law can stop by but timing is unreliable.. we don't hmmm care for our neighbors.. I think we had a little post about our odd neighbors a while back lol.

Re: Northeast FZ6 Meet - Interested?

Alright, looks like I'm in too With regards to the OP I've got a bike mounted GPS but no other gadgets and as previously mentioned just intending to make it a day trip at this point.

Re: Northeast FZ6 Meet - Interested?

I noticed a few hotels in the OP, but was wondering if anyone has any value recomendations. Im just looking for a bed for a couple nights and not a resort. Thanks in advance.

Re: Northeast FZ6 Meet - Interested?

Ant,

I was checking out Hotels near the start of the ride for Friday night. The Days Inn in Campton NH is about 20-25 minutes away. I've stayed there while skiing in the area, it's right off the highway(rt93 exit 27). They show a AAA rate of $107
Hope that helps

Re: Northeast FZ6 Meet - Interested?

How quickly things change - my wife and the baby are likely going to be out of town for the weekend so I'm already re-thinking if I should pull the long day or stay somewhere one night. I'm not really into dragging my camping stuff so is there some hotel type place that others are congregating at?(I did see post above but wasn't sure that was a done deal) If I was to pick one night any thoughts on whether Fri or Sat would be better?

If it were just going to be me I'd camp out with the guys and carry a keg in the Givi! I'm going to be two up, and the GF is hell bent against camping. I'm looking for a CHEAP room for Fri and Sat.

Re: Northeast FZ6 Meet - Interested?

Friday night is likely the best night then you'll be up early and ready to go rather than getting up in the wee hours Saturday morning, driving like mad to get to the start point by 8am and then having to ride all day long.

Hope to see you there!

Here's a sample of some sites on the tour. My wife and I along with oldfast007 (Eric) went on a trial run for part of this tour today. We had great weather all day and only had to put the rain gear on for the ride home. Here's 5 selections from today's run.

Couldn't you meet up at the Conway stop? Check with Eric.. it may be easier for you.

Re: Northeast FZ6 Meet - Interested?

He could but I'll admit that the best part of the trip outside of the Auto Road is the Kancamagus. We did the loop without the Kancamagus and Auto Road yesterday and have some planned stops.

The waterfall you see above is a short walk from parking (.3 miles) and is easy to get to, but getting back out is all steep stairs. So, if you're not into step aerobics, you may not want to head all the way down.

We'll be hitting several scenic stops along the way but between the Kanc and the Auto Road, time will be limited.

Re: Northeast FZ6 Meet - Interested?

Doing a little research with the Garmin listed hotels and Trip Advisor I came up with a few hotel/motel choices around Lincoln that are at least rated ok by random people on the internet and have pretty cheap rates ($60+). Any of the more local folks have input on these places?

Profile Motel and Cottages

River Bank Motel

Autumn Breeze Motel

Re: Northeast FZ6 Meet - Interested?

If anyone reserves a room for Friday night, let me know where, and maybe we can meet up there. We are planning on leaving SE Mass. around noon on Friday, staying over around Lincoln Friday night, and being rested for Saturday morning

Re: Northeast FZ6 Meet - Interested?

Campers - please post up where you are staying. I'm going to come up Friday afternoon from Boston and I need to pick a spot. Also interested if any Southern NE riders want to hook up for the ride north.

Hey Dave... Just checking to see if any others confirmed they are coming and the info for each.

We picked up another rider over at SBN. Up to 18 bikes and 19 people thus far. This is going to be quite a roll call! :D

Tom,

Since the big group camping thing fell apart, we are likely staying in a hotel, but are heading north from Lakeville around noon. We will probably take 93, let me know if you want to meet up for the ride, we'll be in the Boston area before 1:00 PM

Re: Northeast FZ6 Meet - Interested?

My plans have changed a tad bit. It will just be me, and I'll be riding up after work on Friday. I should be there around 11pm-12pm. I am still on the room search, but I haven't really looked hard yet. I've been REALLY busy with work.

Re: Northeast FZ6 Meet - Interested?

After deliberation I'm going to stay over on Saturday night only - the rest of the family's not leaving until Sat AM. I ended picking up a room (well I assume I have pending confirmation - guess it would have been easier to call than use the online reservation) at

Riverbank Motel and Cottages

in North Woodstock since they had recent, decent reviews on TripAdvisor.com and were pretty cheap (60 for the room I got and 75 for the most expensive). Looked like they had 4 or 5 rooms open for Fri and Sat when I booked but no cottages available.
