Nice choice! I've always liked the R1.
In case I outgrow my FZ6, I just checked insurance for the "1". <sigh> it's not gonna be happening for me. Maybe an FZ1 instead.

well here it is!!!!

I must say, I droooooooled over the same bike last year when I went to pick out my FZ. Really sharp bike I must say.

Any smoothness issues with the variable intakes and fly by wire throttle like they talked about in the mags for the '07?

They say the bike is unchanged for '08 but the reviews say the electronic kinks were worked out. I was wondering if it really had any issues in the first place...

It kinda pissed my off....Danny called me from the dealer and I wanted to check the insurance before he bought it. We were paying $562 a year for the FZ (full coverage) and the ninja (liabilty). I didn't have the VIN, but I figured the year make and model would give me a pretty accurate quote. I was quoted around $480 with the R1  ....which a few years ago I got a quote and it was gonna be $5000 a year...so I thought I had better call before he purchased.

I called him back and told him to buy it!!! When he got home I called Progressive to replace the FZ6 with the R1 (with the VIN) and she tells me she's gonna send me a bill for $366... I said wait....what is the premium for the year.....and she said it was like $1159. I asked why it was such a big difference from the quote I had received an hour earlier...and she said well when you gave me the VIN it came up as a street sportbike. I said, uh...yeah... I told her it was an R1. Oh well! It was a done deal.

I guess the moral of the story is; Get a quote for insurance with the VIN so you're not surprised when you actually add it to your policy!!!! (He still would've bought it even if we had known that before)

EDIT: I DO love the bike. It is AWESOME!!!!!

That's one sweet ride D!

So....., how much is the insurance now?

thanks for the replies all!!! I'm still in that, any minute I'm going to wake up state. as far as the throttle response goes; it feels seamless to me. my FZ6 had a light switch at on/off throttle that required me to roll open the throttle before the corner so I could accelerate out of it smoothly. the R1 feels like a carbureted bike, if there is complaints about the throttle feel, I can't imagine why. I have 200 miles on it now, and am actually looking forward to going to work tomorrow just so I can ride it again.:D
