I did the mod today and here are some things I thought may be usefull for someone out there:

1) The wire you are going to use, tape it in black before you connect it, leaving behind only a bit on the edges so you can tell which wire it is. This way the wire will be less visible after the mod.

2) For UK spec bikes (for countries that drive on the left side of the road) do the exact same mod on the left headlight instead of the right one. No other difference there. Even the wires have the same colours.

3) If you live in a country where the lazy electricians or shop employees don't know which connector you are talking about :D just say you'll connect it to a H7 bulb. Ask specificly for a female because the other kind wil hang out of the switch. Took me twice the time to explain what I was looking for than to do the mod....

4) Don't cut the green wire by the left handlebar. Just strip the insulation, connect and tape it secure. Cut it as low as possible to avoid taping and re-tubing the wires all the way up.

5) When placing the inner fairings back, watch for the outer fairing paint. If you get careless you may scratch the paint (I did :o)

I never thought about it before, but I bet that the most stock and effective dual headlight mod would be to install a UK left headlight into a US bike, and vice versa for the UK bikes.

I've had the same thought as it would eliminate the need to do the H4 mod to fit the H7 socket for the US bikes. It would also make the low beam more effective as the current left side reflector does not throw a proper beam. I've been trying to find a way to get a left headlight (lens & reflector to install in the fairing on my bike. Riding where you meet a lot of traffic, it would be nice to have two low beams laying down a proper pattern so you could see better.

I did this mod and I found the green wire goes in behind the headstock and terminates in a block

so I took the wire directly there from the headlight

i.e no need to get a wire up to handlebar switch
