Shock Rebound Tear --

Feel The Track! Tire unusual markings and wear patterns

If you look closely at the tire pictures (3rd from left) you'll notice it looks scaled (among other things)...this is what I'm talking about.

That third picture is what I experienced last summer after the long run at high temps and speeds. I haven't experienced it since but I now run 3psi more in the rear too. We'll see what happens this summer....

For the type of riding you do I am surprised you haven't gone to a piggyback with dual adjustments.

Whats piggy back?

Whats piggy back?

A piggyback shock is designed with an auxiliary reservoir on the shock as opposed to being remote. They commonly offer a much wider range of adjustment in that their only adjustment is not that of the pre-load or spring rate. Rather, the shock allows for compression (jounce) and rebound adjustments in unequal measurements. They may often use oil and gas as a medium. The units I use on the Sporty have 12 jounce and rebound adjustments on either side of 5 spring rate adjustment settings. Makes things real nice in terms of dialing in what you want for a relative feedback from the suspension.

Hope this helps,
Charlie

Thanks charlie,

In terms of Defys post. for most of us on stock suspension tyre pressure is really the only thing that we can adjust? We can't set sag with the standard set up can we?

Neil - Here's a beautiful Works Performance brand piggyback shock.

You can adjust preload on the rear stock shock, that is it.

If you want to fiddle a bit you can change the preload of your fork by trying out a new shim, you'll have to make this, and you can adjust damping by changing your fork oil. Both have good results on the fork. Just a bit of work.

Nate sprung for the Ohlins, I cried...:(

So can I assume that you have just FedEX'd me that as a gift lol?
If I am really honest with all of you guys. The stock suspension is still far more superior than my riding abilities. I never push my bike to the point that I 5hit myself. I would like to do a track day. Its then I think that the difference will be more evident.
How much is one of those type units?

Thanks Neil

Depends on the application but between $695 and $795 USD. Now, with the dollar being weak, it is an exception value to you! :p

Yes mate great value, that I will never do justice to. The dollar is proper screwed at the moment. House prices are droping to. If the Two brothers deal got of the ground I would go and do two night shifts to pay for them defo.

I have just got my bike a couple weeks ago and am now trying to adjust the shock. How do you do it? I looked the owners manual didnt help much. mine is an 05, Is the tool you need in the tool kit?

Okay I mad some progress you put the tool through the aside then move either way. Should it be hard to turn it feels like I am going to break something. Should the bike be on?

Thank you for the quick reply I really appreciate it. I am doing it as we speak sorry to be so thick haha, but what is the indicator.
Okay I think I got it the guy before me had it set to 6, so I am going to try lower since I am only 150 pounds with gear on. thank you very much for the help.

Factory setting is 3. Most riders find this very soft and a bit bouncy when giving it the good news. 150 lbs? Thats nearly 70kg Average European adult male weight. I am a bit heavier than you and find that 5 does what I need it to.
Have aplay and see what you feel.

im might be lame but i change the setting based on my rideing. i see the numbers but im not sure where the indicator or marking is.
