Alien Cafe Racer Headlight! fitted! now with lotsa pics!

Yeah maybe I need to get used to it more or see it from different angles, but it looks oversized on that bike imo. It does make the FZ look like it's from the 70's though, so if retro is the look you were after you got it!

I wonder why they call this a cafe racer headlight?

Need more pics :)

someone's jealous.....

:P

At the moment the light is sitting "up" a little, and it needs to be angled down a bit more, but i was having issue's with the back of the bottom of the 2 headlights, hitting the front of the ignition barrel...i can fix this, it is just a very small modification to the mounting hardware for the light, which i will get to today, or tomorrow, when i put on the clip-on bars....

and yes, i am going for a pseudo-retro look, reminiscent ofthe cafe racers of the 60's, but with a 21st century modern look....i think it achieves that!

The European's like to call bikes like this "Cafe Fighters", there is in fact a whole section of the European Streetfighters Forum dedicated to "Cafe Fighters" - modern naked bikes, with clip-on handle bars, and in a lot of cases, small bikini headlight fairing's....so you can get in behind them when in a "tuck' at high speed...

As for it looking big...my missus reckons it looks small! i think it's proportions are perfect....width wise, it deflects the air around my body, and in a tuck, over my helmet...height wise...the bottom of the headlight sits exactly where thebottom of the OEM headlight sat, and height wise, it is lower than the OEM FZ6N screen that Yamaha sell...

That's some awesome work! Love seeing another stellar StreetFighter. Can you get us some pics with the lights on? Definitely love the paint.

And it now also has your grips on it! Took me about 10 minutes to fix the little bit of road rash they had from your bingle...a quick clean up with a file, some matching black satin paint on the end...

By the way they arrived Yesterday (Friday)...love the US postal service!

That's AWESOME!!!! Thank you again for buying them from me and I'm happy that you were able to fix them up and put them on your sexy beast

The new mask makes me think of a droid from Star Wars. I dig it!

  • I am jealous of your bike
  • I am jealous of your job
  • and, yes I am jealous of all those beautiful women I see around you in your pictures

Better photo's tomorrow, when i can get the thing out in the sun! Stil a bit more tweaking to do, but i am getting closer to the look i am after!!!

just curious but what kind of clearance do you have with the clip ons in relation to the tank?

Not very much! I had to fit the steering stop that came with the clip-ons on my FZ6 cup bike, it fits to the bottom triple clamp, and prevents the clip-ons from hitting the tank...

So "full lock" is about half of what it was before!!!

Is all good, rode the bike to work tonight and it feels just like my FZ6 cup bike did! I prefer the riding position when in sports mode...which accounts for 90% of my riding these days...

Much better feel from the front end!

Definitely feeling it more. What a difference a little paint and some clip-ons makes

Looking forward to more photos.
