Just got my Top Sellerie seat today. It is the most beautiful seat I've ever seen, but after I unwrapped the package and looked it over, I found a tear towards the front! For close to $600.00 U.S. dollars for a custom seat, I would definitely prefer a tear-free seat. I have seen the customer service respond to this forum before and that is one of the things that sold me on the idea of dropping the dough for the seat. Hopefully, they will make good on this one. It is a shame.....the seat is so gorgeous too!!!:(

Damn funny thing is I got the same exact tare in the same spot on my seat when I got it as well. I was pissed about it. So what I did, just used piece of scotch tape, cut a small piece, taped it and then colored with black marker. Its ghetto style but am not shipping it back and paying arm and a leg for this. Great seat BTW... you will love it.

That's too bad.....looking foward to getting something then not being able to use it once it's arrived! They seem to be a decent company as far as customer service is concerned, so I hope they get it fixed quickly for you.

If it arrived damaged the company should pay for all shipping costs to make it right. Did you ever contact them about the tear when you got it?

Yeah, it sucks.....the other irritating thing is I can't even take care of it this weekend. Leaving in a few hours for Florida to help move my Mother to a different home.:(

Yep, just got it today.....sent a direct email with pics and a response email with my shipment info. Interesting that Static got the same tear in the same spot.:eyebrow:

Sorry to hear about the tear. Hopefully it's fixed to your satisfaction.. .and quick!

(Now we really need to get a ride planned. I can't wait to try that saddle out. When do you return from FL?)

I waited 2 week for my seat and once I got it, the tare was not a big deal to me like to some other people. Don't get me wrong $420 that I've spent was a lot of money indeed; I just did not want to wait another two or more weeks for another seat to arrive and long emails and phone calls. Now if the tare was really big and noticeable at another visible spot then I would take that extra aggravation step. But for now am way happy with the seat. The tape worked great and you can't even tell if it’s there even if you were looking for it. It is what it is for now.

That really sucks guys! Damn! Are they (Top Saddlery) starting to get too big?

I sold my FZ1 bargain bin seats to Norm because they fit him perfect and my larger arse had "the boys" quite crowded at the tank. I sent out my original seats to them (borrowed their pan) on Aug 28th as they have a 283 euro hold on my account until they receive them. During this time, I ordered the new FZ1 seats with the materials, stitching, and the LONG option. Now, I sent them the shipping confirmation and they still haven't acknowledged the arrival, plus they have a hold on my card!

They refuse to make my NEW set of seats until they receive the seats from my LAST order, yes, even with the CC hold! I paid for new seats and they have NOTHING to do with the original order or shipping of the stock seats, yet I'm held hostage until they get those seats before making my new set and shipping.

Their "claim" is they have no FZ1 pans. If this is the case, what happens with the guy who orders and buys THEIR pan? Is he simply told No, seats aren't available for the FZ1?

I don't get it! TS is a forum member here... hope they read some of this and respond. I've been nothing but nice and cordial with them and you'd think I'd get better service on my THIRD seat order from them?!?!?!

Well, even with proof I shipped, and because they claim to have not yet received the original seats, they nailed my card today for 283 euros or $416 USD. I can only hope they refund that money when the seats arrive.

I don't understand how they can get me the seats in a week and I ship with 23 days remaining and they claim not to have them?

At what point can a person make the claim to the USPS that the package is lost? I did insure it for $400 USD in the event this did happen.

I had a package that was meant to take 14 days take 7 weeks, and couldn't do anything because apparently if anything went wrong the package would be sent back to the supplier.

Thats pretty terrible about the damaged seat as well. I would be absolutely furious, you could have gone to a local seat covering place for that much money and they would never dare to give you a damaged product. It does make you wonder if they send the damaged ones to people further away in the hope the person just won't bother doing anything about it.

Yeah, I hear ya on that one. I don't know if it was intentional. I told them I was moving my mother over the weekend. I just got back and opened my email and found a response from them. They said to send it back and they will send a replacement. They also said it must have been damaged in shipment. If that is really what happened, then I feel the shipping company should pay the shipping charges. I sent them an email to ask if I will be reimbursed. I will post the reply on that.

Well, it will probably be a while for me to get the replacement seat back so you can give it a test ride. We should go riding anyway, though. Maybe a little shorter ride till I get the comfy seat back....:D

That's BS man! After my bad dealings with them I have held my tongue on TS seat threads. They have piss poor customer service if you ask me. I love the seat, but not the company.

I'd call my CC company and start the charge back process.

Well crap! I would be ticked - and would send the seat back too.

The wait will be worth it though - they are really nice seats.

I agree that the seat is very nice. Hopefully this process won't be too painful. :scared:

Well, this seems to be the case with Corbin, too!! I have looked at multiple different motorcycle forums to find story after story about the bad customer service there which included specific names of individual employees.

If I decide to change my seat I think Spencers will be my choice. A lot less expensive and in this country. He uses the existing seatpan and cover but re-foams the saddle. Typically less than $100 for the job.

Be interested to see some pics if you do.

I think that I am seeing a pattern with companies that export and do a lot of shipping. Follow me for a second.....the US postal service is much cheaper than FedEx or UPS. However, the USPS has a size limitation on the packages. I have noticed that the shipping container was just a little bigger than the seat with loose foam packed around it and the seat was wrapped in a cardboard paper. Honestly, not very protected, but much cheaper than using a larger container with more protective packaging material and using another carrier. This may be IMHO what is going on in this case, but just a guess on my part. I just shipped the seat back and it cost me $63.50 and 45 minutes of my time at the post office going through the aggravation of figuring out how to ship it back. I will continue to document my experience for the benefit of anyone else who is considering this company. They have gotten back to me in a reasonable period of time so far.
