Hola people!

I'm new to both the motorcycling world and this board so I thought I'd post my official "hi everyone" thread :)

I just got a 2006 FZ6 with 2000 miles on it and I'm looking forward to start riding. I'm taking the MSF starting tomorrow and I already got all my gear:

1. Olympia motosports mesh jacket
2. Scorpion EXO400 helmet
3. Cortech leather gloves
4. Knox aegis back protector
5. Sidi vertigo boots

If all goes well I'll stick around for a while :)

Seriously, you picked a great all round bike. You have also joined the BEST bike forum on the web!:rockon:

Make sure you listen hard to the instructors in the class, it's a dangerous world out there for motorcyclists. Also if the FZ is your first bike, be very gentle with the throttle until you build confidence in your riding skills.

I noticed that you already bought a lot of gear...GOOD MOVE...BRAVO!:rockon:

I would also think about some riding pants to protect your legs, you will find most people on this site support ATGATT...All The Gear...All The Time.

Enjoy the bike, take your time and build your skill slowly and you will be rewarded with a great hobby!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys :)

n1one: I'll buy riding pants as soon as I get my next check :D I bought so much stuff all at once (tools included) that I ended up broke. I guess I should get familiar with the feeling considering I want to go to a track school and start doing track days after I log some miles under my belt :)

Also where in MA are you? I'm in framingham :)

Got it.....I see your point....yah gear is not cheap!

If you want to go to a track school, there members that have done plenty of that and can give lots of advice.....just ask around!

BTW...I live in Leominster..Rt 2 west. I work in Marlboro near Rt 20. I know Framingham pretty well Rt 85, Rt 9 etc....

Glad to see more New England FZ riders, there are a few others around too....you'll bump into them as you post around the forum.

I just installed my first mod - shogun frame sliders. Hope for the best but expect the worst :)

Hey guys! Thanks to all for stopping by and saying "hi" :)

So day one of the MSF has just passed by and I've gotta say I love it! Everyone is having fun and aside from a girl that dropped out everyone else made very good progress. There are a couple of people who have ridden thousands of miles already and are taking the MSF just to polish their basic safety skills but all the rest of us are newbies having a blast and gradually improving our non-existing skills :)

FZ1inNH: I would love to come and meet you guys in person so just let me know which part of the forum to check out to make sure I don't miss the meet!

reiobard: as Bill said, I live in Framingham, MA. I just moved in so I'm yet to explore the roads around here :)

Edit: There was just one bad thing about the MSF ... 6 hours in the humid heat in full gear with limited movement ... I don't think my worst hangovers are even comparable to the headache I got after today's riding class. I really hope it rains tomorrow.

Also glad to hear that you are all geared up - ATGATT is the only way to go. :thumbup: Good luck on day 2 of your course. I had a blast when we took it.

I passed the MSF today with flawless score (got first in our group :P) and I just took my lady on the parking lot behind the house to test ride her for the first time! All I've gotta say is "WOW"! I'm lovin' her. I think I'll stick with the parking lot for another day to get a little more familiar and on Tuesday or Wednesday I'll venture to some bike shop to have her pass inspection (I have till Thursday to do that).

I've gotta say I'm feeling a little unease about riding in traffic but I was feeling the same way when I got my car so I'm hoping it will go away once I get on the road (just like it did after my first solo ride in my car).

One thing I really have to work on is relaxing my arms ... I get some good wrist cramps in my right hand and left elbow/triceps starts to hurt after some time. I can feel I'm not relaxed so that's something I'll have to work on :)

P.S.

Is it normal to feel the throttle on my little MSF Suzuki tu250 to be more touchy than the throttle on the FZ? I seriously had harder time being smooth on the little bike than on my lady. The FZ is so much smoother and more responsive.

The trick to relieving the wrist pain is to use your legs and stomach to hold you up...not arms and wrists. I am sure if you practice...you will get the hang of it quickly. When I first started riding the FZ, I had to think about these things a lot...LOL, I actually talked to myself to remind me to relax the grip and the arms..and use the body to stay up on the bike. I used to ride a cruiser.....so it was a big change for me.

I have been riding for more than 20 years, but I had to learn how to ride the FZ properly, so I would be comfortable and would be able to enjoy it.

Now I love this bike!:Flash:
