I am a big guy (6 foot 250 pounds) and i am wondering just how close you can get to the 410 pound total weight on the bike. My fiance wants to ride with me (130 pounds) and i worried that with full gear and a tank bag will put too much strain on a good set of twisties. I dont plan on riding hard with her, but i dont want to blow my shock. anyone have prior experience with loading an FZ6 up and any suggestions for when i take her out for a country side ride?

thanks for your help

My two up experience had to be right around 400 Lbs (I am about 265 without gear) The only problem I had was going over a crowned road (at an intersection) and had the shock bottom out. It was not a pleasant experience to say the least. So just go slowly over things that will do that to you and you should be fine. We have ridden about 300 miles round trip two up with no problems.

apparently you should be OK:

Pre-baby, Rob and I were roughly the same weight combo as you guys, and the bike did not seem to have any issues with the two of us, fully geared with a backpack. Granted, when we ride twisties, we don't ride 2-up, but it seems fine for the highway.

Whats the real disadvantage riding in the twisties with 2 up?

I do it a lot with my wife and I on my FZ... I'm right around 250 full geared, shes 140-150..... I haven't seen any issues yet.

For us,t he disadvantage is I don't get to ride my own!! Have your fiancee get her own bike, then problem solved ;)

um me 228lbs, her 120lbs no problems. me last year 260lbs her 120lbs no problem. my mom wanted to go for a ride so i took her me 260lbs. mom 170pds or so... Front end felt really light! basically put only went a few miles then back to the house!

Me with riding gear on. 235 pounds
Tankbag with camelback full of water. 10 pounds.
Hard saddlebags. 40 pounds.
Tent and sleeping bag. 20 pounds.

Total 315 pounds. I didn't have any issues with the suspension, but my rear tire wore away at an impressive rate.

Anyway, that's one data point for you.
