A bad winter for modding...

Well.. living in a townhouse sucks! its a very nice house... but when winter rolls around, and you got some cash buring in your pocket.. you look out the window and instead of having a nice garage covering your baby, its sitting exposed (covered) till spring... this sucks... all kinds of mods i want to do and its 20F outside... i have done a few things... Rizoma grips and bar ends... but getting the rearsets and bars removed for powdercoating never happend... relocating juice box to the gauge cluster never happend... oh well..

anyone else feeling the pain of being garagless?

I have no garage....every time i want to do mods to my bike, i either have to leave it under the cover, half assembled, or take it to a mate's house...worse still, it makes the bike an easier to target for thieves...i feel your pain.

its a bummer... i got a shed over the winter to store it in... but never got the chance to build a ramp for it... currently its way to high to get the bike in... tried using an 8ft long board to ride it up, got the front wheel and then it bottomed out.. put it back out front... then one thing after another made its way into the shed and before i knew it it was filled and no room for the bike... oh well.. ill get'her next year.

yep, I without a garage in the winter too...guess when the bike gets dropped off for inspection they can do the fork bearings(going to buy the all balls) and 15w oil...unfortunately money is tight so lucky's pegs, and actual FE will have to wait(probably going to have time to dremel the stock one).

No garage here either. I just roll Betty in the house! It makes for hairy fun tho when I make a mess :spank: I had a near disaster changing oil last week. Oh, well. The rubber backed mat I found in the parking lot paid off! Now to wash it...

I feel for you guys who have to let your loved one spend the night outside.

same here....I'm pretty sure next time I do any major work I'm just going to say "frick it" and put a tarp down in the kitchen. I'm not married yet, I'm allowed to have a motorcycle in the house if I want to...................................right?

I doubt it! My gfriend bitches at me something horrid if I do anything in the house.

I'm lucky in that I have a garage to store tools etc and for working in and outside of - but I have no power or lights in there. It's a pain as when I need to do soldering or drilling, I have to use an extension lead and move the bike into the driveway just outside my flat window. Also, working at night means using a headlight torch!

My bike got it's own room for the winter ,- well to be honest it shares it with my servers, and a freezer

The wife is not exited about it, - but she will rather have the bike in the house, that seeing me soak and moan about for 3 months a year

my problem is... either make a 20 foot long ramp to get it in the house... or somehow lower it to the basement... my front door is elevated pretty high.. with long steps.. and we have a backdoor that you have to go up the deck steps to get to, or a basment door that you have to go down the deck steps to...

Hi man, I thing maybe a thermic cover can help a lot.

I use that thermic cover in the summer (here in summer temp reach 40˚C). The only way I found to not expose my bike in extreme temperatures.

Sucked here as well, even with a garage. Simply put, the economy put us in extreme conservative mode with our cash flow to avoid going anywhere near the red ink. We survived and were doing OK but all the plans I had for mods while the bike was winterized were put on hold or cancelled. Hate it but I do know there's a really good bonus coming this year.

My bike resides in a shed in my back yard. Its not that high really, I got a board from lowes and I push it in and out of the shed, its interesting because there is a bush about 10 ft or so from the doors of the shed, but i haven't had any problems.

If ya can get ya bike down to Tasmania I have 2 garages (double and a double length) and a shed which can prob fit 3 bikes in.
