Looking to buy a new (or slighty used) car for under 30k... IDEAS????

So, i'm buying a new or slightly used car. I don't want to spend more than 30k.

I want to buy american because I run an american automotive shop.

I was looking at the new Pontiac G8...wow, what a car.I really love the new G8's lines, power, and just overall feel... It's by far the best Pontiac ever made. I want a sleek, powerful, sedan, with bold but sleek looks, something that will do ok in the winter (you can't ask for much from a beefy rear drive V8). The interior just feels right in the G8... I can't stand how every single Chrysler/Dodge looks exactly the same inside and out.

So to answer your question... I want as much power as I can get for under 30k, all the options, sleek looks, something that will attract the girls, it will be my daily driver so it obviously has to be comfortable, and have good resale value.

But for 30k, i could get basically any car used... BMW M5, M3, Audi S4, Porsche...etc...?

Ideas????

AND.. You guys get all the good stuff in the G8 too, our version of the same car doesn't pull anywhere near the 361Hp you guys get

Sorry stumbles but cant understand how anyone can realllllly like these cars that are half built in china, and are a australian holden. So so sorry bvut we make **** cars, not as bad as american cars but not great.

Also if i had $30k to spend on a car i would be looking at the charger, challenger, G8 :drool:, GTO, or even a Chrysler 300, American car companies have come out with some dead sexy cars in the past few years!!!

The Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky would get my vote. And with incentives you could get the top of the line 260hp GXP for around $30 brand spankin' new.

my vote is for a 300c/charger/magnum, in SRT form. 425 hp and you can get most of those slightly used for less than 30k. in fact, i almost bought a magnum srt for 24k a year ago. the 300c interior is slightly different than the charger/magnum, but the seats in the srt are very very comfortable.

I love the charger it is gorgeous.. but put a fricken stick in it!

You can buy a Cadillac CTS-V with low mileage for $25K, black on black six speed with every option, Nav/Sat, amazing deal. Corvette LS6 drive train, 400hp 395ft. lbs. and it will smoke an S4 on the track. I'm strongly considering it. Aftermarket performance upgrades are massive, lot's of low hanging fruit, you can go FI or just cam swap and tune to create an absolute monster, a luxurious one too.

+1 on an SRT8 LX platform car

I bought an 07 300C SRT8 early this year for under 30k and their value has gone down further due to rising gas prices. Can't think of another car that has so many tracks to general public appeal - hot rodders dig it, blingers dig it, ganstas dig it, plain old white guys dig it. My wife is scared to drive it but loves the seats and the quiet highway ride.

FWIW I drove the Maggie, Charger and 300C before deciding and to me the little differences in the 300C meant a lot in the overall feel of quality (note I said feel of quality) the car. The Dodges should be a couple thousand less than an equivalent Chrysler though. Between me and the PO it's up to ~25k miles and no real issues. Since someone's bound to bring it up I get ~14/22 based on my driving and that's not going easy or crazy on the right pedal.

As an owner that;s what I would have bought if I could but I will say that my 300C srt8 is the first auto car I've owned and it's usually in the right gear so I'm not totally bumming that it doesn't have a manual tranny.

I have driven the CTS (not the V) (my dream car) it is like riding in a cloud... worth checking out.

Fuel efficiency is the new chick magnet

Close to nine in 10 women (88 percent) say they’d rather chat up someone with the latest fuel-efficient car versus the latest sports car.

That doesn't mean women are looking for guys with BORING cars, though. But there are a lot of nice cars that don't suck gas. I can't think of many american cars that are good in winter, though. FWD is better than RWD for snow, but AWD or 4WD still wins that one.

I think the ford fusion comes in an AWD. About 30mpg and comes in a 5 speed manual (or automatic if you want to take the fun out of it). They have some nice sport packages that make it look really sharp. You won't win any races, but that's what the FZ6 is for!

I drive a lifted jeep liberty, which is great in the winter, but sucks at fuel economy. And it's by no means fast, even with the 6 speed manual transmission. But chicks do dig the heated leather seats

if it were me id buy a new bike and a $1000 beater for when i cant ride.
