My bike came with BT 20's as standard and they squared off pretty radically. As I ride from Lorne to Geelong a lot (Great Ocean Road), I need a tyre that handles the corners and stays warm. Having said that, I do some highway miles as well.
Bt 20's did 14,000 km

I decided to replace with the BT 21's as they are dual compound. However, they are squaring off consideribly at 7,000km and I think I will go with the Michelins next.

Why did Bridgestone bring out the BT 23's so soon after the Bt 21's and claim 30% more wear?

I paid $500 + for the 21's and I am not happy the new tyre is claimed to last longer.
Not happy indeed!

AND when this consumer isn't happy, he changes brands.
For ever!

Marketers, how I love to sue them!

every st tire is the best. didnt you know? according to manufacturers.
remember all tires have weaknesses, its up to you to exploit that weakness and find out what works for your style of riding. I like the wider profiles of the older battlaxe versions (020,021) versus the new taller profiles you're seeing everyone follow each other around with currently.

That is a Pilot Road 2CT:thumbup:. I've had pegs scraping on wet roads with those on my FZ6. Wear well, and have a respectable amount of grip. Don't push 'em too hard on cold roads though.

Yes i will vouch for this, definitely peg scraping action is acvhievable with the pilot road 2ct's...best tyre i have ever ridden on in the wet in fact...by a fair distance...

Thanks for that that Hump. Any where you can get a price for them online ? Wondering how much they cost over here. Haven't rang up any local shops yet just curious to see how they compare to the Diablos.

Just found out that these tyres are not so easy to get in South Australia...will have to order them in, if i am to try them, which aint a big issue, as i dont need em just yet!

Would like to know an Aussie price as well.

I've been waiting a while to hear what reports come back with actual mileage on the BT023. Many people seem to like them although the PR2 CT seems like the hands down favorite. I may be able to finish out the season on the stock 020's but hey - I've been riding a bunch and at 7300 miles the front tire is starting to look marginal.

I found a thread on another site where guys are running the 023's on heavier sport touring bikes with nice results. It's a good, long read.. I think it is up to 18+ pages.

btw, these guys are kinda fond of the longevity of the 020.

I tell you what humpy, when I have bought my tyres, I will let you know, so you will now to expect your commission to come through from Metzeler!

But seriously, cheers for all that info...just made my day that little bit easier tomorrow!

PR2's with the disclaimer that I am not an agressive rider and don't ride my tires to the edges. I ride year round rain or shine and took them through the dragon in the wet. Last set had over 22,000 miles on them and still had tread left.

For commuting there isn't a better value tire, period.

I got 10000km's out of a set of PR2's, and i rode the wheels off the thing! Was majorly impressed...the front did end up a bit shabby, with a bit of "scalloping at the edges of the tyre, but the rear kept it's proper shape right till the bitter end!, even with a fair bit of straight road touring thrown in amongst that 10000km's. I used every bit of those tyres, and never once had a moment...in fact the only tyres i have found to work a lot better in the dry, is the super sticky Bridgestone BT003RS's...and your lucky to get 4000km's out of one of those! As for the wet, never had another tyre that comes close to the PR2's in the wet...just brilliant!

Typical BMW dealer response :shakehead: as for the price    they are trying to rape you :spank: :spank: $353 a pair (Z6's) fitted for me here in QLD , $230 rear & $123 front

I was thinking you would be struggling to find the Z8's in Oz as they are only just releaseing them in Europe... Z6's are the go in Oz for sport touring or the Z5's if you want more sport than touring :D
