At various special occasions Uncle Yeti the Ranchita. Ca. Snowman gets different head gear for different seasons. Now is spring bloom in the Anza Borrego Desert that's 4,000 feet below. Today, I dropped into the desert via Montezuma Valley Road, which is a hoot to ride and often ridden by the FZ6 Forum SoCal members here. I've never seen so many people in the desert before!. The little town of Borrego Springs is being overrun! Haha!

It's been an El Nino year and we've got much more rain than we usually do so the entire life chain is beaming. Pretty awesome to see the desert like this and It hasn't yet reached it's peak. Lisa (Wife) and I will get out there soon and take pictures to share.
Until then.....

So that piece of crap R1 is still running? :spank:
Flowers my a$$, you were just looking for a reason to ride over to Anza at warp speed.

Good for you Cliff but I would like to see some pictures of the desert blooming from all the rain you had when I was down there.

Doug ,
I'm going to get down there with my pretty boss(My Wife) probably next weekend and shoot some pics.

But yeah you're right I wanted a blast on Monty and for the first time it wasn't gusty in two week. In fact it was so clear today!

Yep, that's what I'd do. Nothing like a ride to take your mind off of things:thumbup:
When's another group ride???

Jerry

It's your turn! You head one up! I'm ready.

I'll probably be riding with a pretty fast group this weekend but any who want to come are welcome and it'll probably be a split groups seeing as how there's prolly gonna be a lot of riders out this weekend. It will probably take place on a southern route along the Mexican/American boarder. Honey Springs rd, Old Smugglers Pass, Rt 94. Stuff like that. So any SoCal Hoons that wanna ride, say the word. Be cautioned, Fast is these guy's religion but they are a great group of people other wise I wouldn't hang with them. They made a rule this year and it was that if you ride with them, ride in full battle regalia.
We had rider on an R1 with his girl on the back and nothing bad happened but we were all concerned for both their lack of gear, and at pretty spirited paces. So come ATGATT if you decide to ride.

What's the deal with that Yeti?

Is it some type of tradition or something?

The Ranchita Snowman (I call it "Uncle Yeti") is this 12'-14' statue in the middle of Ranchita, Ca. It's like the middle of nowhere at 4,000 feet above sea level on the way to the Anza Borrego Desert. It's in this little parking lot by "The Ranchita Store" a little Mom & Pop that sells beer, cigs chips and loose onions-n-taters. There's a Porta Potti on the property and if it's not yet, we'll make it a tradition and landmark. Some times we'll stop as our FZ6 forum group rides through or I like to stop sometimes and talk to Tom. He works there and used to be an avid touring rider. Had lots of different bikes. One day Cali rider (John) , Wavex (David) and I were there taking a water break and the lady who works there and was really cool, came out to look at our bikes. She was drawn to Daves Buell first, then saw the GoPro camera mounted on my bike and asked what it was. I told her it was a video camera for shooting motor sports but that when I go home my wife and I make porno flicks with it. :spank::smoking:
Her eyes got real big and she told John and Dave to put this guy back on his leash! :rof:

It's just a place we stop and meet nice local folks and yesterday I got to give some info to some retired folks that didn't know which route would be more scenic. If you Google Earth it you'll prolly find pictures on Montezuma Valley Road, Ranchita, Ca

LOL, that's a little south for me and I would be left in the dust:D besides the only ATGATT I've got are my fire hose jeans:spank: but those and regular jeans is all I've ever rode in since 64 when I started riding, one of these days I'll spring for some decent leather riding pants.:D
Don't know how far north the group wants to go but there are some decent roads on the north side of the San Gabriel Mts. out of Wrightwood, if that's to far north then east out of Temecula on 79 and take Sage Rd to Wilson Valley Rd and then 371 though Anza and over to 74 and the take 243 and have lunch in Idyllwild and then home whichever way you want.

You could get some Kevlar re-enforced jeans to which at least might help in the sliding protection area but armor is very important and I feel worth every penny.

Yes, we've done the Sage road/Idyllwild group ride.

I really enjoyed that trip and I'm guessing it 's time to do it again now that the rain season might be abating.

They do ride fast! I tagged along on a couple rides with them and NcCoder.

Lets pick a date that doesn't conflict with any other ride or event and a meeting place. April 3rd or 10th would be good

I like your idea for another group ride. Unfortunately, I can't make one until after April 15th (Tax season).
