Several months back, I got water in my gas tank from leaving my bike in the rain for several days. When I drained the tank, I took the fuel pump out and the level sensor must of broke free of the the fuel pump housing (fuel gauge was giving false readings). Anyway, I have the problem fixed, and the pump back in the tank. is there a proper way the fuel pump should be aligned?

I was personally of the opinion that it only went in one way. But as long as the float is able to move freely in the angle you put it at, it's probably okay. Well, and the hose fits.

On my FZ the fuel pipe points to the rear of the tank. I would rotate the pump 90° clockwise from how it appears to be mounted.

Im going to try this! I literally just found a pic that had the fuel pipe pointing to the rear.

Thanks for the quick replies!

Alright, I guess I didn't pay attention..... If you look at the fuel pump, their is a nipple that catches the mounting ring. The fuel pump can the be turned by the mounting ring to align the bolt holes properly.
