Need Help Fuel pump reassembly

Hi,

I would like to ask for help to reassamble my fuel pump. When I pulled out the fuel pump from it's socket it came off together with that white plastic ring. My question would be does that white ring supposed to be in the rubber or it is sitting inbetween the pump and the rubber like a spacer?
I tried to put it inside the rubber, but after that it seems impossible to put them back to the socket and I didn't dare force it.

Yes, the rubber part goes into the fuel pump housing. And the white ring is only a spacer.

so the white ring doesn't go into the ribbed rubber housing? And it all works fine

Yes, the rubber piece sits in the pump housing, and the white part just goes "against it" being a spacer between the pump and the housing.
