Torque improvements

Well my little mods wish list goes something like this:
  • -1/+2 with 520 conversion and S/H
  • Leo Vince pipes and prob P/C + K&N
  • FZ1 bars
  • ASV Levers
  • Tank protector
  • Rim strips
and my favourite Progrip gel grips :D

Now to decide whether to go faired or naked!!
 
I'm tending toward naked purely because the turbulence of the faired sounds like a significant issue.

I know we're deviating off topic quite a lot (more like a 'help me pick a bike' thread), but anyone done the clutch arm extension mod? Like I say, about 500km on an FZ6 and only getting slightly used to the narrow friction point. I can't take off aggressively because I have to concentrate on not stalling. Thinking of welding in a 1cm extension.

Naked.

It's the only way to go ;)
 
Nice list of mods...go the naked, looks funkier, potentially costs a lot less to fix if you drop it too...
 
I rode an 07 S today with Yoshis and a PC3. It was a good example of what can happen when a bike isn't tuned correctly. It felt well down on power compared to a fresh one. Whether it was the tune, or the bike was just a tired example, not sure.

Has anyone messed with the flywheel on theirs at all (ie lightened it)?

There is a thread on here that would suggest that it was the Yoshi's themselves causing the power loss not a bad tune..... Go NAKED BTW , its the only way to ride :rockon:

Have thought about this, but have heard that it best for track use etc, because the lightened flywheel has less mass, and thus momentum, making the response both on and off the throttle more abrupt...and you effectively loose torque...

But awesome for high rev applications...

Just my 2 cents.

To all......a sigh of relief. I've made a decision and it's a new FZ6N. Woo!

Rode our new demo home again tonight and maybe it's the cool weather, but it was really roosting nicely. As much torque as I've wanted, and just a really enjoyable ride. I really find these things extremely comfortable.

Funny how once I found it lacking in torque, but now, finding it fine. I may not even go as far with the gearing change (maybe just a -1 front).....

And decided on the N because the turbulence on the S for me (6ft 1) is quite bad, and quietens significantly when you stand on the pegs. Since the majority of my riding is commuting, the N really is the go I think.

So it's a graphite one ont he way, should have it next Tuesday. I'll start a new thread with the planned mods progress. I'm also hoping to run it in on the dyno and at the same time trial the airbox mod so I can give a definitive answer on whether it improves or hinders performance. Will be interesting on an otherwise stock bike as well.

That's the one man. Can't wait. It's that or yellow - fairly easy decision there :)

we have the graphite at our work and i have the yellow so this may be a bit one sided.
The yellow realy pops when you see it although the graphite is a nice colour too the graphite has a weird colour on the wheels sort of the colour copper goes when its coroded and the randomly red seat? it would look good of you painted the rims black with a red strip though:thumbup: any colour fz is better then the xj it didnt realy impress me at all.
 
Yeah I had red rim tape on my list of mods, but then saw the wheels today and you can't really put it on them! Strange choice, and yeah the seat is a bit different.

I've seen the yellow - not bad but it's not me. Yamaha tend to err on the conservative side with their colours which is a good thing. You can't go too wrong either way hey. I didn't mind the white with red strip they did as well.....

If black was still available the choice would be a lot harder!!
 
Yep that, and the 8.99% finance. This is why it's basically the same price as buying the demo XJ6! Gotta love it.

It also made the FZ1 look more attractive, but even harder to keep it at legal speeds on that gem of a bike (prob my favourite road bike).
