Thinking about moving

Im 19 and live in southern illinois by St. Louis. I recently visited my birthplace of San Diego and fell in love with it. I moved here when I was 6 and didnt remember much about Cali. While on vacation I took my cousins 03 cbr600 out in the canyons, my first real twisty road ride. :rockon: WOW is all I could think. I am contemplating moving out there for college just so I can ride my cycle in the canyons everyday I can. My aunt and uncle have a little appartment on the side of their house and they said I can live there. Im getting kinda tired of a town with 3000 people and straight roads!

I just made the drive from Detroit to Kansas City about three weeks ago and all of Illinois south of Chicago is BORING. I don't blame you for wanting to find more fun terrain but the cost of living (everything) in California is pretty rediculous from what I've heard. Take a road trip through the Ozarks every now and then.......

I'm from the mountains of upstate NY, I've been in Chicago for 8 years, I gotta get out of this flat, humid, grey, ugly part of the country (no offense)!!!!!! I'm moving to SF in November

Where in Ill are you? I was born in Alton, father was a prof at SIU, haven't been back since we left in 1969 when I was 5.

San Diego is beautiful.....expensive, but beautiful! I say go for it. Palomar is awfully close.

I have family in San Diego and have visited a few times (I'm from the other coast). Talk about a gorgeous city! Absolutely beautiful weather anytime I've been there.

But as Hellgate said Colorado has a couple of great schools & some great canyon roads! My son goes to Colorado State & loves living in Fort Collins. :cheer:

Probably the best all around weather in the country. Rains very little, and you have the canyons and the ocean with all of those beautiful beaches. Plus all the women, or men, you never know these days. Go for it, if you don't like it, you can always move back, but I doubt it. I've been just about everywhere in the U.S. Not sure what part of Southern Illioniois you're from, but I've been there too. Marion, Carbondale, and they are two different worlds. If you don't want to do it, do it for your FZ, because I know it's just begging to go out west!

I grew up on soggy(but very beautiful) Oregon and joined the Navy when I was 17. I was stationed in San Diego and fell in love with it. The weather here can't be beat. Sometimes I miss the change of seasons but I certainly don't miss rain.

I actually moved out of San Diego twice and have moved back here for the 3rd time. Like they say, if you have free rent go for it. It's not heaven but it's better than most places, in my opinion.

My place is 3 blocks from the pacific ocean and there are chicks all over the place here.
