Hey Travis, how did you park your bike? Was it backed in, where the front is facing out of the stall or was it parked with the back end facing out?
For what it's worth, you are always better to park your bike in the midddle to the rear end of the stall with your front facing out towards the stall.
Your bike is more visible facing the front because it's larger, versus the rear. Parking the bike in the middle to rear of the stall will allow a buffer zone in the event a cager backs up and doesn't see your bike. Most people who back up will utilize the extra space behind them because it makes backing up a lot easier. Somre riders prefer parking their bike towards the front of the stall to inform other drivers that the stall is occupied. However, you are then very vulnerable from vehicles backing up. I'd rather take my chances having a cager see my bike driving forward, rather than relying to see my bike backing up.
You ever wonder why all the cars that are parked by Valets are backed in?
Reason being there is less conflict when you drive forward rather than backing up.
With that in mind, I will always gamble and park my bike in the middle to rear of the stall facing out, rather than the very front in the 2% chance that you find me parking in a parking lot.
