Rode a buddies Z1000 today...

... and now i wanna trade mine!
Man-o-man does that thing have some power, and talk about smooth! Every gear just fell right in to place. Cant even feel it click. It falls into a curve like butta! If you get a chance to ride one, jump on it. Its a great little bike. And the crazy thing is. I heard from some magazines that it was suppose to be the "bad years" for those bikes.... if thats BAD i cant imagine how nice 2010s are!! I WANT ONE!!!

Just one draw back... SIDE EXHAUSTS! EWW. I need undertails for sure...

Anyone else taken a ride on them?

Fantastic, i think i could ride it longer than the FZ6, your just as much upright, if not more... plus the "nakedness" takes the wind off of you.

The biggest thing i noticed on the Z1000 was how easily it shifted. And thats what he noticed about my bike, how clunky it was. Here is a guy who has been riding for 20 years and he stalled my bike at the first light. The clutch on the Z is from heaven, its a nice smooooth. Its just hard to describe. I just noticed so many things I never knew i didnt like about my bike before i rode his. I almost wish i never rode his because now its got me thinking hard...

The FZ1 is what you described but better cause it's a Yamaha!

The power, brakes, handling along with fuel consumption (worth it for the power) is just at a much higher level.

I've put on 2k since picking up my FZ1 this spring and like it more every ride. Ordered a sargent seat for it which may help for the 300 mile days as the stock seat is a bit firm.

Well the Z1000 was the second bike I took for a test ride, rode around for about 40mins or so. Power is awesome and handling is good, however if you ride a FZ1 you will find it HEAPS better, I found it to be more comfortable and the seating position for me was perfect, the Z1000 I found was more fatiguing than the FZ1.

The Z1000 also devalues SO much more quicker than the FZ1. When I was getting my FZ6 some guy brought in his near new Z1000 and got offered $10,300 !!! I believe he ended up trading it on a FZ1 ..... Although one thing the Z1000 has over the FZ1 is the insurance is heaps cheaper

Either way both bikes are awesome and you could not go wrong with either but fuel range is very limited, the Z1000 I think you will be struggling to get 250-300km per tank. (Not sure about the FZ1)

I rode an SV650 as a loaner which had a very light clutch and smooth gearbox. Mine felt like a bag of spanners when I got it back in comparison.

Yeah, its fantastic. Its not a deal breaker for my FZ, but damn am i gonna be jealous everytime we go out now... hehe

I second what all one red wazp has to say. The FZ1 is a wonderful bike! I've got about 2,000 or so on mine too since I bought it. Outstanding motorcycle!

Dude you have GOT to try a 2010. They are leagues ahead of the pre-10 models. The seat is more comfy as well (not pushing you against the tank as much, my biggest complaint on the 09s), and the front end feels less flighty. But the power on the 2010 is simply gob-smacking.

I also think they're one of the ugliest bikes on the planet, but have seen some sensational versions with just some simple re-spraying of some panels. When will Kawasaki learn that bright lime green and fanta orange just aren't very masculine!!

Seems the biggest criticism of our bikes in reviews, etc. is the gearbox and clutch. Oh well, I've gotten to like the KAPLUNK! sounds and gotten used to slipping the clutch a little (sadly, not really).

Well horses for courses, I love the look of the 2010 Z1000, they look so awesome and are a real pleasure to ride, pity about the price, about $3000 more than a FZ1 over here !!

And as for the clunk, I love that feel .... Feels nice and solid and reminds you of what you are riding
