Woke up at 4:19 this morning to the dresser mirror vibrating against the wall. Realized right away it was a quake but it was over before I had time to get up and check it out. My wife woke up at the same time, we both commented it was a quake and went back to sleep.
The quake, a 4.5 was centered about 80 miles away in Quincy Ca. This was about the 5th quake I have felt in the 30 years since I have lived in Ca.
Most of the quakes we have up here are not near as strong as the ones Ca. has in San Francisco which is 125 miles to the east. We do not feel those, ours are usually from the eastern side of the Sierras.
Earthquakes along the coast such as SF or LA are usually much stronger and produce more damage due to the softer soils. Good for us, not so good for them.
Being Minnesota born and raised quakes are a bigger deal for me than those who grew up here although going back to sleep without even getting up means I am almost a native?
With so many members around the world my question is have you ever felt one?
