Rim tape w/ plastic application tool

Hi guys,

I've read a lot of threads about people installing rim tape, either pre-curved or using that plastic applicator. A lot of people say it's really easy to use the plastic tool, but I can't find any Ebay auctions saying that their rim tape comes with the plastic tool. Did anyone order from an Ebay vendor and get the plastic tool? If so, can you give me a link?

Yes it is easy to use....but it is even easier to use, if you take the time out to remove the wheel, and put it up on a bench to do the job...also a lot less back breaking.

you're right wolfman, it breaks your back but i did not know how to remove the wheel so i did not want to risk ruining everything just for some tape. i have yet to become a bit more handy on the bike

Read through the service manual, it's a pice of cake to remove both wheels.
Also keep in mind that while it may be easy, take your time. A mess up looks really bad, and the stuff does not like to come off.

I bought Pro Grip from my local dealer but it can be found on amazon too. The only problem I had with the plastic applicator was that it didn't hold a tight enough line to the rim and it had bumps. I did one side with the applicator and then the other side I did by hand and eye without it. I'm gonna ride with it this way for the season then in the fall take the wheels off and try it that way. Is there a good way to apply it to the front wheel without taking it off?
