ive noticed that the right exhaust smokes for about 1 minute after switching the engine off on my 05 fz6n...

i suspect some unburnt fuel but the bike dosent feel rich and i dont understand why it is only the right exhaust as you look from the back...

maybe this is where the main pipe enters but im unsure....???

seems odd....ive had a few bikes in the past from small 125cc to gsxr750 and never noticed this before...

any ideas?????

Its nothing to worry about..its probably condensation in this cold weather ,also your cats are like honeycombe material so when the engine isnt pushing the fumes through they are just seeping out in whisps .

You're right - In my factory exhaust the right pipe is almost inline with the inlet pipe, but as far as the smoking goes, I don't have a clue unless you make a lot of short, low speed runs, in which the engine doesn't get good and warmed up and the exhaust system still has a lot of water in it, hence steam?

makes sense then.....bike been out of action for a few months due to a lost key......ive just got that sorted, serviced it, new tyres and each time ive been having just a little blast with no proper good run....

cheers all.....just waiting for this ****ty weather to do one so i can have a good blast

You might have gotten some unfortunate critter in there and crisped him. When I kept my bike outside near some bushes (easy access to a large concrete light post for chaining reasons) I had about a 2 week period of trying to convince a tree frog the the muffler was NOT a safe place to hide. Great times firing up the bike in the morning and watching the little ****er get shot out like cannon.

Granted, he flew like a foot, which means it was more of an OMFG RUN AWAY jump than a cannon shot, but I still found it amusing.
