Riding boots question

Was hoping to get some feedback on a good boot. I had purchased a pair of Tourmaster boots Tour Master Solution WP Road Boots - Motorcycle Superstore

I liked the low profile, non-bling, non-Power Ranger looking style to it and they are waterproof. However, they felt huge on my feet - way too wide and just a touch too long. It felt like and inch between the top of my foot and the boot material. My ankles felt like they were in a big tunnel. That being said, I was hope that someone else with slender angle and feet may have found a boot out there more fitting. The motorcycle shops around here really don't have much to try on. It cost me 7 bucks to learn that these boots do not fit. So, any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I had a similar problem, so I just tried a range of boots, and found the best fitting was an Oxtar womans boot! Slimmer fitting. Looks no different to a blokes boot.

I tried on a pair of TourMaster boots and found the fit for me very similar to what you describe. I have two pairs of Sidis that fit much better (I replaced the insole with a little bulkier one). newenough.com has fit info for the boots they sell on the page for each boot which you could look over. For, instance I recall reading the TCX boots were usually generous through the foot so that sounds like something you'd like to avoid. Also, webbikeworld.com reviews although they'll be hit or miss if you're looking for a specific boot model.

They are Italian. They are slim fitting, and feel just perfect. I actually work 11.5 hour days in mine after riding to work and riding home.

You'll get no argument from me about how great Sid boots are. Unfortunately I'm on a pretty tight budget so I went with the Joe Rocket Big Bang boot for about $100. This boot is also pretty bulky, but I got used to it.

One other comment the OP made is he doesn't want the "Power Ranger" look. The Sidi's and a lot of the top end boots fall into that category. On this I side with the OP, I'm a "casual" rider who wants protection. I'm not real excited about boots (or any other gear) that makes me look like I'm trying to be Valentino Rossi...

I LOVE my Sidi 'On Road' boots. Got them from newenough.com (fantastic vendor) last fall.

I have narrow feet. These fit great. They are low-key in terms of looks and they're absolutely, positively waterproof (check out the webbikeworld review of them - since that review they've actually gotten even better). They are well armored too (not as much as a hard-core racing boot, but more than most other street boots) and they are tall so you won't have any leaks at the top.

I'd say they're the best piece of riding equipment I own.

They aren't cheap though but you'll only buy them once.

Check craigslist for Sidi boots...I got mine for $125 used Awesome purchase!

Sidi does make quality boots - and most of their boots are highly adjustable.

I'll reiterate my usual rec of boots that don't bend side-to-side. If you fall and your bike tries to bend your ankle in a bad way, your bike will win unless your boot is on your side.

A comparable boot that is a bit more affordable than Sidi, but not as well protected is the Alpinestar Ridge Boots also at NewEnough. I first started off with the Tourmaster Solution WP Road boots. The fit was very loose and the outsole wore out after about 6 months of riding and walking around with them at work. With the Alpinstars, the boots fit much much more snugly and has added protection in the ankle area. Feel is excellent even before break-in.

Thanks again for the input everyone. I just picked up the Sidi way rain boots from a guy who only wore them twice(off Craigslist). They look and feel just like new. You guys were absolutely right! They fit perfect. Good deal for 130.00 :steve:
