R6S vs FZ6 Fork Length Difference?

Hey Everyone - It's been a number of years since I put the R6S forks on my old FZ6. IIRC the R6S fork is about 10mm shorter? Also would someone please measure the length of an FZ6 fork from the top of the tube to the middle of the axle opening?

Reason is, I'm toying with putting a set of FZ6 forks on my XV920R. I can doctor them up, but they are 35mm, and have brakes made of wood. Whereas I can get an entire R6S front end, brakes and all, for $350. All I'd need to do is have the steer tube pressed in and bolt them one.

10 mm sounds about correct, I just did the swap on mine. I can measure the distance you're talking about if I remember when I am home............

I've got a set off I can measure when home tonight. IIRC its 12 to 13mm (1/2"). I'm not sure if its applicable due to the chassis swap but; I slid them up the triple (FZ6) 8 mm for proper turn in and set the sag to a bigger number than the rear. Keep it in mind. . .

During the swap.

IF YOU OPEN THE R6 forks, can you please measure the coil diameter and free length?

As found:
Coil Dia= 4.72mm 0.186"
Coil spacing = 9.26mm .366" between coils
Free length = 252mm spec: >244 <249 (9.81" - 9.62")
Coil count: 7coils/10cm or 17 coils not counting ground ends.
REFILL: Aprx 473mL
Without the spring and spacers and washers in the way and with the tube collapsed it should measure from the top 106 mm (4.17 in).

Negative. . . you pulled that # from your @ss or my free length spring number! :don'tknow: :BLAA:

2008 FZ6 Fork as measured:
From center of the axle hole to the end of the fully extended fork (just below cap):
29.5" or 749.3 mm

From the center of the axle bolt to the seal:
14.5" or 368.3 mm

The exposed stanchion tube length:
15" or 381 mm

What I wanted to know was the free spring length and coil spring AND the coild spring diameter if you opened the R6 forks up.
