If I hadn't lost the front brakes I would have continued. To have continued with just the rear brake would have been too hazardous. I depend on the front brakes to regulate speed and stop.

Yeah, I know. Just giving you a hard time. Will be good to finally get to ride with you!

Ok, this is quickly coming up on the calendar. So, I have a proposed route for Saturday July 16 2011

Little T/Aliso Cyn./Angeles Crest Highway/Wrightwood/Silverwood Lake/Big Bear

Comments/questions? Post them here...

FYI

Last Friday I rode Little T, to Big T, to ACH and back from Valencia. Upper Big T was closed.

On ACH at Angeles forest Hwy to Mt. Wilson they were re-sealing and sanding the road it was dirty a mess with cones in the center lane. Not sure how far they plan to continue with the sealing. Hopefully it will be clean and work completed before your ride. A few miles past Mt. Wilson the road is down to one lane with a stop light that takes forever!!!

Then a few miles past Newcombs ACH is closed. So you might want to keep an eye on the Cal Trans site to see when ACH will be open all the way through.

Come to think Of it I'll take a ride up there tomorrow or the next day.

I will do a reconnaissance ride about 1-2 weeks before to verify that the whole path is usable. If it doesn't check out as being complete AND enjoyable I will formulate an alternate route and post up.

Question guys? So what area of socal will you guys be riding at/to LA,San Diego? What will it cost? Or is each one getting their own room? I have family members to stay with, but in the LA area. I am hoping "spelling?" I can tag along.

Chemiker, Vergasrider and I are staying in Buena Park right by Cali rider and Wavex. We're planning on having a Friday night dinner get together in the same area. Saturday morning the riders from the L.A. area usually have a pre ride breakfast and then meet up with the San Diego area riders at a pre-determined location.
Chemiker, Tailgate (Sacramento) and I are riding down on Friday leaving in the morning on a yet to be determined route and then ride back north on Sunday together.
Hope you come along!

If you need some more info send me a PM.

MoeDog: I'll probably end up staying here:

HI - Los Angeles - Fullerton Hostel in Los Angeles

It's spartan (bunk beds) but usually lots of interesting travelers from all the world end up at these places. About $25 a night. It's basically just to bed down anyway. For the Friday evening windown scene--Cali rider (John) indicated that this will take place in at Fullerton eatery.

Mark your calendars, the 2011 ride will be the weekend of July 16 & 17.

Leaving the Bay area on the 15th, right?

Hey Nate
Travis and I are sharing a room but Vegasrider is staying there also and may want to split a room. We're staying both Friday and Saturday nights.
Travis and I are leaving Friday morning around 8ish or earlier from San Jose. We haven't yet decided on our routes down and back.
Hope you can make it this year.

Edit: Woo hoo! Glad to see you signed up for the ride Nate.
