Just picked up a 2007 brand new FZ6 have a question on what I paid for it.

Thanks for all the info. guys I am sure we are going to enjoy the bike. Now to look for some cool stuff to add to the bike.

Get the T-Rex ones. They are cheap $23 shipped and looks great quality with the T-Rex logo strip, 3 grooves over little grooves.

Stocked out right now but will check into them, can't ride anyways now we just got 8-inches of snow last night.
 
hey bud welcome to the forum first off. The biggest thing to think about when buying a bike is truly is it what you want. Just to loet you know i only paid 5999 for my 08 with out any miles but that may just be where i'm from too, i dont know.
 
Keep in mind that market price varies by area. Although there are people in other areas who may have paid less than you, your price may have been fair in your local market. When I purchased my 07 two years ago I felt pretty good about talking my dealer down to $6600 (something like that). Talked my way out of the freight and assembly fees too.

A few months later I happened to stop by another Yamaha dealer in a nearby area. I checked their tagged price on another 07 and saw they were asking about the same as what I had paid. I started wondering what I would have been able to talk them down too. . . .Whatever pride I had in my previous wheelin and dealin quickly faded away. Fact is though, market prices fluctuate, and as long as you're happy with your bike and happy with what you paid, you're doin' ok.
 
You did fine. Steve said it best: Your wife is happy and she's a rider. You're luckier than most. If we are just going to talk about money then the reality is price is not nearly as important as her use of the bike. If you paid $7000 and she rides it all the time you will have very quickly realized great earned value in your purchase. If you paid $5000 and it sits in the garage and becomes a coat hanger, well, then you paid $5000 for a coat hanger. I can get you a coat hanger a little cheaper than that. I actually bought the bike back in november so yes, I trailered it back. Out of state so I did have to pay tax when I registered it last month.
 
um they paid you to take it.... You got it cheaper than dealer cost, thus meaning they paid more to their floor plan than you did to them...... Thats the things people dont understand it was still a new bike. Dealer cost is still dealer cost. if the dealer goes below that doesnt matter how old it is. it cost the dealer money.....

I just got some Shogun Sliders I paid almost $40 on ebay. Motivation Sliders are pretty popular but will run you in the $65-85 range.

I haven't put mine on yet. Lot of good that does, huh? I need a Torque Wrench. I will have them on before running up to N. GA Mtns tomorrow, fur sure.

Well, maybe you feel a little more happy if I say to you, that here in germany you didn't even get a used FZ6 Fazer S2 (what you call the 07 model) under 5000 Euro/6700US$. I had to pay this money 4 month ago for a 07 one with 2500km/1500mi and I really searched for something cheaper.

So I would say, maybe you had could get it for a little less money but if this is you local dealer, you didn't have much work with the purchase its OK. :thumbup:

Hey... I just bought a 2007 FZ-6 last Saturday for $6k. That's including the tax and dmv fees. It has 1700 miles on it and some light scratches on the one side. I live upstate NY (near syracuse), so that might make a difference. I didn't like having to pay as much as I did... especially for a used/scratched bike... but I rode it today and loved it... so it's hard to really regret it all that much.

Anyways. I just joined the forum today because now I am officially a proud owner of an FZ-6. I hope you and your wife enjoy the bike for many years to come.

Screw what you paid, she's happy so no big deal.
What really bites is getting a new bike and she can't ride it due to snow. That's pure torture :(

im located less than an hour south of you, you could have bought my 2008 for less than that.....too bad you didn't find the forum before you bought it.....
 
I don't know if it was a good deal for your area or not, but I found that I could get a brand new 09 for just a few hundred more that used 08's are going for. I called around to 5 different dealers and was quoted from $7400 down to $6900 OTD not including tax and RMV fees. My local dealer that I had bought my last bike from matched the lowest quote.

The total with shipping/ dealer prep / doc fees and all taxes (5% sales tax), RMV fees, (title, registration,) came to $7335.

Quick question: Do you need a torque wrench to put on frame sliders?
