Just Ordered New Camera

As you may have guessed I've just ordered a new camera.

Anyhow, I wanted something to use under water and on the bike and HD so I got one of these....GoPro Official Store: Wearable Digital Cameras for Sports

Now it's just a matter of waiting until they start shipping them

LMAO.....Yeah, I've seen them on top of people's heads on an extendable boom as well as just on the side etc.

For me, it'll be more for mounting in various positions on the bike. Gaz already wants to mount it on the Z Thou to see how much his suspension is loading up during trail breaking etc and I'm sure it'll get a work out on all our bikes:cheer:.

The camera I'm currently using is an Olympus bomb proof jobbie. I can just about use it to hammer in nails in Jarra....lol.

From everything I've heard about with the Go pros, they are tough as and the housing and lenses are replaceable at low cost.

Also the mounts that come with it are said to be outstanding.:thumbup:

I'll be sure to do a little bit of a review after I've used it....Right now I can't wait to get it...lol....is it here yet is it here yet is it here yet?:BLAA:

I have the older version and can tell you they are pretty bomb proof as far as mechanical goes.
Pretty decent image stabilization! They pretty much designed these cam for what we do. My GoPro is the wide angle 170 deg lens and the firmware has been upgraded so it can use a 4 gig card as apposed to the original 2 gig capacity.

Some tricks I learned are keep the inside clean because it will tend to fog up inside with temperature change because it is pretty much sealed up. As temp increases and the moisture expands it can't evaporate and will fog up. I didn't know this on one of our SoCal rides and lost good video because it fogged up. Also use lithium batteries if you can. They are worth it

I also ordered it when someone posted up the pre-sale a while back on Pashnit. They are expecting theirs this week. I got an e-mail from Tim at Pashnit and I am the FIRST order they had so mine is the first out of the crate to ship!

Now, we have to scour the net for the best deals on SD cards!

BTW, by the end of the year, you will have the opportunity to buy the remote LCD screen. You can use a remote mic with it (like in your helmet to comment along the ride?), you can run it off any USB charger so no worries about battery life.... and a lot more!
