no you don't.
i read somewhere that you don't need to regap the iridiums.
i never did with mine.

Yeap,you don't need to regap for iridiums plugs.I don't see any advantage of using iridiums vs normal plug either beside extended replacement period.Some reported to have better fuel consumption too.

thanks all. and even if the difference isnt huge, its still an upgrade.

why go OEM when you can upgrade? not like it cost a million dollars. but i also buy top of the line tires even tho i dont have top of the line skills

You don't need to "re-gap" but you do need to "gap". But yes same gap as stock plugs. There can be quite a bit of deviation from the factory.

Sure no reason to go iridium, but there's less chance of a plug failure as these things last well over 50,000km so why the heck not!

Buy plugs with the same gap. Some plugs come with the correct gap, some need to be regap'ed. It should be written on the box

Yikes I just popped those suckers in!
I got all the same type: CR9EIX

Well it's been like 100 miles and everything is fine.
In fact it feels much more smooth.
I had about 14,000 miles on the original plugs.

Hopefully my engine won't blow up.....

Ive had 30k km on the stock plugs. Pretty sure none of the service guys that have seen the bike have changed them ever. Never seen them on the invoices.

This is why I'm starting to do things myself. They skip so many little things.

And not by accident either!!!

I know i'm trawling through old threads here, but rather than start new ones....

For those of you who DO get your bike serviced at a stealership, or any garage for that matter, if you dont know the guy intimately, check your bike after it's been in for service, especially a major service.

All to often I've seen cars and bikes come to me for its second major service or a minor service after its first major (if that makes sense?! ) and found that the items had not been changed, such as plugs, air cleaners, even oil and filters FFS! its not hard to tell how long a servicable item has been in place just by looking at it, well as a mechanic it isnt for me.

One thing I always advise to friends is, after a service, mark the servicable items with a paint marker, tippex (white out) or something so they can check after its NEXT service if it's been replaced.

Oh and anyone who tells you that you get a bigger brighter spark from a plug with more than one electrode, just slap em!! Yu're getting the same amount of juice flowing through extra cathodes....... think about it.......

+1 on that, I did the same thing due to the instructions telling me NOT to gap the plugs as it might damage them. Mine runs just like yours, as good if not better than before:thumbup:
