There have been a number of threads lately referencing insurance costs that, to me, seem astronomical. I thought it may not be a bad idea to see about how much everyone is paying (Maybe someone could switch to a less expensive provider)

I'll Start...

Age: 27
Driving Record: 1 accident, 0 Traffic Violations
Company: Concord Group Insurance
Discounts: Multi-Vehicle (Discount $35 per year)
Premium: $340 /year
Motorcycle: 2007 FZ6
Coverage: Collision, Comprehensive, Liability, Theft
Coverage Details: *To be added*

I have an 06 fz6 I went with progressive
$140 per year covering:
liability
theft
limited comprehensive (dropping it or something)
and collision.

They have been great to deal with too.

So far everyone seems to have reasonable prices. There are threads right now (Bikes for sale) where people are throwing around numbers of $900 - $1200 /year for the bike alone...what gives?:)

My car insurance is through Geico. When I got my bike I thought I'd try them and maybe get a discount..... WRONG. holy crap they wanted almost $600 for liability. I thought it seemed high so I called progressive to see where they would come it at. When they gave me the $140 quote, I asked them if they were jerking my chain.

The quote from Geico was ridiculous and I don't even want to think what it would have cost me for full coverage.

Obviously, this is a typo. You meant, $1,400.00, right? Or, you didn't mean "collission." Or, maybe either you or your agent is smoking something really good, high quality? Please confirm the premium rate. Maybe you meant "6 month premium"?

I think we need some more information for this to be beneficial like age, driving record, discounts, motorcycle details and whether or not you have other vehicles or house with the same company. So here's mine.

Age: 23
Driving Record: 0 accidents, 1 (maybe 2) speeding tickets from 4+ years ago
Company: Progressive
Discounts: MSF Discount (~$50/year)
Other vehicles/house on policy: No
Motorcycle: 2007 FZ6
Coverage details:
-Comprehensive w/$500 deductible ($196.00)
-BI & Property Damage liability ($150.00)
-Collision w/$1000 deductible ($652.00)
-Pedestrian FPB $5000 per person ($2.00)
-Accessory coverage up to $3,000 (INCL)
-Roadside Assistance ($10.00)
Total: $1,010.00

Those of you that already posted, could you please update with these additional details. Otherwise, this really isn't all that helpful. I'm not going to get near the rate of someone that is 40 years old with no accidents and no speeding tickets on a 2004 FZ6....

I'm sorry I did not mean to include collision :spank:
I am 24 years old
no speeding tickets
1 traffic ticket from 4+ years ago
2 accidents both deemed my fault one was and one I was caught in a pileup
no other vehicles/house with progressive
no discounts
It is $140/year for:
2006
Yamah

BODILY INJURY & PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY $43.00
BI $50,000 EACH PERSON - $100,000 EACH ACCIDENT
PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY - $25,000 EACH ACCIDENT
UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED MOTORIST $42.00
$50,000 EACH PERSON - $100,000 EACH ACCIDENT
MEDICAL PAYMENTS $2,000 EACH PERSON $35.00
COMPREHENSIVE $500 DEDUCTIBLE $27.00
ACCESSORY COVERAGE $3,000 INCL

Premium by Vehicle $147.00
Total Policy Premium $147.00

Sorry it's messy I just copied it from my statement. Comprehensive covers damage not related to collision. The Comprehensive statement from the website is:

INSURING AGREEMENT - COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE
If you pay the premium for this coverage, we will pay for sudden, direct, and accidental loss to a covered motorcycle or a non-owned motorcycle that is not caused by collision.
A loss not caused by collision includes:
1. contact with an animal (including a bird);
2. explosion or earthquake;
3. fire;
4. malicious mischief or vandalism;
5. missiles or falling objects;
14
6. riot or civil commotion;
7. theft or larceny; or
8. windstorm, hail, water, or flood.

So the only thing not covered is my own stupidity if I laid it down while riding

-Allstate
-$1200 a year
-Full coverage.

Both progressive and geico quoted me more. Insurance sucks and is a major ripoff.

Just to add to this...

I'm 25 and married and my 2 other cars are with allstate. Been with them for 9 years. No accidents and no tickets. Bike is an 09 and I have a loan out on it so I need to have full coverage. I also read some where that Louisiana has the highest insurance rates, so that's not helping my cause either.
