I've got full coverage ($250,000/$500,000/$100,000) mainly due to the fact that I have an umbrella policy as I am prone to get into trouble unfortunately and need to have my :spank: covered. Therefore, anything that moves and has a license plate has to have total coverage for me. Anyway, I just got my renewal in the mail and it's $670 for a year through Dairyland. It's up a bit from last year and am wondering if anyone thinks that's too much... or perhaps is ok? I know there are plenty of threads on insurance, but as insurance rates are pretty time sensitive I am hoping some of you folks have a quick 2 cents about it. Most appreciated, as usual! :cheer:

Oh, and I did read something (I think) about someone having a problem with the FZ getting classified as a more 'dangerous' bike this year. Not sure how the ratings go, but if anyone is interested, I could tell you how Dairyland rates mine, if you tell me what to look for. I've got all the data here, just not sure which one is that classification. Thanks!!

mine is about $350/year for full coverage through progressive. that is down from about 550 last year, i think that the classification of the bike changed to a touring bike and they slashed the prices.

progressive eh? i will call my agent tomorrow and ask about that. $670 just seems pretty high. i see a "terr 014' and a 'sym 51' on my info. wonder if one of those is the bike classification.

as am i, but when i was initially getting my insurance together last year, my agent asked me how long i had been a rider, and i hesitated, and she said well i'll just tell them 10 years. i said, ehh, ok? i dunno man, maybe it's worth getting a quote from someone else and, erm, 'adjusting' how long you have been on a bike... and in your defense, 'bike' is a loose term

depends on where you live, your driving record, age, experience, Rider courses, etc... there are many factors that go into insurance I paid $352/year for comp they wanted $850/year full coverage. Im an 23 was 22 at the time but have had my license since I was 16. I am in NY. O and that is through Progressive!

I pay $512.00 a year for full coverage through Farmers Insurance. I have my cars, home & Life Insurance through them. Farmers Insurance does not issue the policy but they have a sister company, Foremost Insurance, that takes care of the bikes - and the policy is through Farmers.

I can drop the price by $380.00 by lowering my coverage, however, I have kept the coverage as is due to all that is included in the policy (low deductable, roadside assistance, towing, hotel coverage in case of breakdown, ect..).

I would recommend you find an Insurance Company where you can have an open door policy with your agent. I have been with Farmers for the last 19 years (since I began to drive), and have had the same agent as well. I know if I were to shop the policy around, I can find a lower rate; however, I have a very good relationship with my agent and that alone is worth the little bit more I pay to him. My wife was in an accident with our son about two years ago and she was hit from behind in her car (grand am). I called my agent and he had everything set up for my wife within 3 hours of the accident - body shop, adjuster & rental car.

Just my opinion and ride safe!

$1500/yr here..new and under 25. Called the insurance company today though..the day I turn 25 its going down about $1100...will be about $35/mo or so

The 25 part reminds me of this hilarious video

OH, I THOUGHT YOU WERE GONNA SEND ME A BOX OF DRIVING TALENT FOR MY 25TH BIRTHDAY

All of this $hit is ridiculous! I'm sick of paying ridiculous amounts of money due to some A holes my age getting 1000cc gixxers and killing themselves on the highway trying their first wheelie! I've still got over 4 years (haven't hit the magic 21 yet) before I get the nice breath of fresh air and pay less. "PEN15 tax" CLASSIC

I'm 22, paying about 850 per year full coverage, including a 1 time accident protector,
so I can have 1 damage without the rates going up. discount on accident free riding is about 6% per year.

edit: and I mean EURO's, so 1075$$

I'm finally getting mine on the road and called for quotes yesterday. I haven't received the fax yet to know what company (I went through an agent) but will be paying $112/ year for liability/comp. Full coverage would be about $240/yr through Progressive.

I got my bil in the mail. Dairyland is charging me $610 for the year with $250K/$500k/$100k coverage. Includes comp and collision. Im 29 with the 10% off for the motorcycle. I have about 2 tickets on record (damn courts and my lead foot in the car :)). I looked into other carriers but dairlyland was the cheapest for me. I think last year i was charged around $550 so i really cant complain too much for the little increase.

I'm paying $900+ a year through progressive. But probably because I'm a new rider.

That is highway robbery I have been riding for about 5 years, but have only had my license 1 year, and when I got the new bike, full coverage was only $250 A year, Through country companies, and state farm was only $280.

Progressive for me with My wife only having one wreck about 4 years ago and no tickets, they wanted $1500 a year and geico wanted $2000 a year.

Isn't it a more "state by state" thing? Here in TN, I bought a 600rr to find out that my insurance company (farm bureau) said ...ummm NO. Not "it will be expensive"... NO... was on their list of **** you can't have hahaha

State Farm kicks ass on sportbikes because they go by CC and not how quick they will kill you. My baby sportster (shut up it was cool) was more expensive than my sprint st 1300 triple or my 600 fz crazy aint it

I agree, but they like to base prices on city/state, AGE(I'm 20), and other factors. Clean record, but that doesn't mean anything.
