Im a potential 08 FZ6 buyer and was wondering were the best place to get motorcycle insurance. Ive heard that this bike is better on the insurance but when i looked up a couple of sites they were in the $2500 a year range.

Im 20 years old, about to get married, and going to take the bikers saftey class.

If this sounds outragous then where do you have your insurance and if you dont mind saying how much for 12 months?

$42 a month for full coverage. But I'm 41 with two other vehicles. State Farm is the company....

This subject has been discussed in a few threads, but this is probably the largest thread regarding insurance. But you may want to try hitting the search tab for more threads regarding insurance. As I recalled, insurance in Texas is dirt cheap according to some of the posts.

i live in florida and i have full coverage, everything you possibley think of, and they also give me an additional $1000. for upgrades without any questions asked. I have progressive and i am 36 divorced and pay $50 month. Here in florida, if you wear a helmet you dont need insurance, but, with no helmet all you need is basic insurance which would have been $15.oo month.

Your best bet will always be tog et a multiline discount with another vehicle (if you have one) or put it with your homeowner's or renter's insurance policy. Most places give discounts for extra coverages like that.

Rates vary by state, among many other factors obviously. I'm 24, single, live in Wisconsin, and have taken the MSF course and I have what I would consider "middle of the road" insurance from Progressive and it costs me about 300 bucks a year. I have no infractions on my driving record. Many companies will give you discounts for taking the MSF course, so take the course first then buy/insure the bike so you can tell them truthfully that you have taken (and presumably) passed the course. Most importantly shop around for the lowest rate.
Your rates will be much higher in Florida because as of Jan 1 2008 they reinstated their no-fault insurance law which makes your insurance company pay for damages regardless of fault, as a result they must raise rates to compensate.

I am 23 not married. I got two quotes when i first got my bike. the first one was based on if I was 25 and it was 320 a year. They called me back and said they looked it up under my dads name. I now pay 630 a year. This is with state farm.

I pay about $490/year. I'm 31 and get my life/car/house insurance through other agencies, so no multiple policy discount. Also I'm a new rider. I go through State Farm. Hope this helps.

Well I just insured mine for $415 a year with $125 deductables. Full coverage with $3k custom parts from progressive. I'm 26 hope that helps.

i want to add an FZ6 to my riding choices. i have a 2003 Triumph Bonneville America. love the bike, put some serious miles on the bike, keeping the bike; but really want to cross over into some sport riding.

i am 46, female, have an excellent driving record, took the MSF 5 years ago, pay $200.00 a year for the Triumph, multi-policy through GEICO was over 1400.00 per year, even higher with progressive.
(did i mention i live in Connecticut?)

those who posted about state farm, thanks for the tip.
think i'll also check out coverage through the AMA.

any other suggestions?

$260.00 per year full coverage ($21.67 per month) at Liberty Mutual. I have multiple policies there, 43 yrs old and a clean record. That is 100k/300k/50k with a $500 deductible, towing and rental.

3 bikes, full coverage 100-300 with 250 deductible through Dairyland and it's 630 a year. Progressive, State Farm, Allstate and Geico couldn't even come close. This is with zero tickets, accidents or MSF which they do not give a discount for.

with state farm my insurance went from 1,000 to 300 because i turned 25. My driving record is clean and my truck is insured thru' state farm but according to my agent that didn't matter because motorcycles don't count for multi vehicle discounts. getting married did drop my truck insurance but I didn't appear to help the cost for the motorcycle.

20 years old? FORGET IT! (or at least getting full coverage). No insurance company is going to give you a good rate. I would just get liability and hold my nose.

I'm 24 and as vegasrider said. Texas is great. I pay $22 a month for full coverage through allstate. When i hit 25 in november it should go down to about 12 dollars a month, of coarse that is with 2 other cars, my house, and life through them.

I pay $1700 per year, full coverage, via Pacific Specialty Insurance. Would be over $2k with Geico, Progressive, or any big companies...

26 yrs old, clean record. Not married. 250/500/100 full coverage with $500 deductibles. MSF course taken, first bike. Live in eastern WA.

Currently paying $38/month with State Farm . But.....my bike is an '05 FZ6, not a new one.

I'd shop around. I got quotes that went all the way up to $120/month. Just do some homework, and see what you come out with.
