Increasing Stator Output

Thank you for the reply Bryan!

As far as running lights go I wouldn't eliminate them for the safety factor they represent. The running lights and tail light should be on on the same circuit but a separate circuit from the headlamps. This configuration is for the safety factor/design in the event the headlamp circuit fails. This way the bike has twice the possibility of some kind of light in the event of one of the circuits failing. Naturally this type of failure would be more critical at night. I know our state (Ca.) requires running lights on the front. Some bikes have separate light assemblies for the running lights and some incorporate a dual filament 1157 type lamp in the front signal stalks as the FZ6 does. One filament is the running lamp and the other is the directional signal filament.

I totally agree we can get more power with smarter power management and better components. I would caution that it's a good idea to retain the front running lights for safety as well as legal reasoning.

There is a way to wire LED directionals and have both circuits available in the single function LED. See attached schematic. :D

Good call! Or run a R1 pod light set up with LED's

But I do see what your saying. the only place I wouldnt use an LED is the tail light. Maybe they have improved on those, but I have yet to see a LED tail light that was bright enough for day time use.

Yes! I always liked those R1 pod lights. My SV1000s LED tail lights are awesome but I agree I haven't see any aftermarket tail lights that are equivalent to OEM LED tail lights. I bet there are good ones but I haven't seen them yet.
I recently put LED turn signals front n back on the SV and found some decent bright ones. I never thought of the OEM stalks as ugly but after I put the new LEDs on I was surprised at how it made the whole bike look better.
My SV already has pod lights for running light so I didn't have to do the relay for running lights.

The HIDs are also a good power saving alternative but pricy! You'll save about 40 watts using the HIDs

Thanks again for the update on the stator experiment!

Just thought of another bulb to look into replacing. Tag tight, swap it to an LED if you havent already. Thats a 5-10w bulb that is on all the time. That will help to swap that one.

Yes! Good call! I modified my stock fender by shortening it but didn't think of the tag light! I'm on it like a duck on a June bug! :BLAA:

And wire in a switch to that one and the tail light circuit incase if you need to evade a high speed police chase at night......nevermind :)

 Whaaaat? Perish the thought! That would be cause for me to never ride with that person again. End of friendship, unfriended from Facebook, etc. :spank:
