How big of a trailer do I need

I am only waiting on my financing before I go and pick up my Yamaha fz. I have a Dodge Dakota but it only has a 6 foot box. Is this enough space for the bike or do I need to get my hands on a longer trailer?

A 6 foot bed is fine. I hauled mine home in my Nissan which also has a 6 foot bed.
You won't be able to close the tailgate, but the rear wheel's weight will be on the bed, not the gate. So you'll be fine.

you might be able to shut the tailgate if you go from corner to corner. Not sure about the Z but it works with a lot of the bikes i have loaded into friends trucks...

Thanks that is what I needed to know. Now I just need to go buy a ramp and tie downs. I like the canyon dancer straps mentioned in the other trailer post. Any good suggestions on a ramp? I will not be using it very often only once or twice a year.

+1 on 6' being plenty.

Shop on eBay for a ramp...there are deals to be had.

When I bought my last ramp, I got an atv ramp. Not the folding kind but two seperate rails. Most times, they're much stronger than most bike rails. Most decent shops will sell the rail seperate as a cheap way to get a strong rail. If your getting your bike from a shop, most have a fork lift. Let them load your bike with that. Less chance of dropping it....
