FZ6 tank bag, tail bag or luggage?

I'd like to add some storage on my 2008 FZ6 to hold another layer of clothing, rain suit, etc. Any suggestions as to the best approach? I've had other bikes with saddlebags and tank bags and I'm open to either approach. Information on brands, models, etc would be helpful.
Love the bike, but hate the seat. Any comments on gel pads or replacement seats would also be appreciated.

I personally have the Joe Rocket Hammerhead tank bag and it's a great fit for the FZ6. It's a smaller bag, but looks like it was designed for the FZ6. I use it every ride and take additional luggage if needed.

Cheap / easy answer is a tank bag. For 4 years now I've been rockin' the big-ish Tourmaster one that unzips to expand vertically...

My normal setup is actually to have it in one of the side bags, with the top case off half the time. With it stashed, I don't have to see it all the time, it doesn't get UV rays breaking it down, etc. And if I get somewhere and need room I bust it out of the side bag. But if you're just looking for room for some really tight-packable rain pants and a spare set of gloves, it would easily work. I keep chain lube in mine, spare gloves, tire pressure gauge, and god knows what else.

Personally I just ordered MotoCentric Mototrek 14 Tank Bag and
MotoCentric Mototrek Sport Saddlebags go go along with it. They have videos of each that may give you an idea how it would fit.

I'm looking into getting one of those Tail Bags too, but nothing too big or fancy. I migh get the Nelson Rigg CL -80 ($50.00) that I'm planning to put on the rear passenger seat. Any comments on this Tail Bag? I also have a Nelson Rigg Tank Bag (small), but I notice that it's giving my tank some really fine scratches.

IMHO, tail bags are the way to go just for that reason. It isn't as easily accessible, but a good one will just strap under the seat and not touch anything else. I'd make sure it's waterproof and pretty solid. Also just think about the maximum you'd be carrying as far as the size.

I'll throw in my vote for Kriega (no, i'm not a rep :thumbup. You seriously CAN"T find any bad reviews of their stuff, and there are a TON of reviews. They really took their time in construction. Everything to having a strap securing system when you aren't using the bag, to having different straps with it to use the bag off the bike (messenger/fanny carry), completely waterproof without the need for a cover, and one of my favorite things (at least with the US-20) is that the inside of the main compartment is white letting you CLEARLY see what's inside instead of fumbling about.

The Nelson Rigg stuff looks pretty solid for it's price. It is smaller at 10L, but it's whatever you need, you also need to cover it in the rain. I think a user named Elizabeth has this bag or something similar, you might ask her.

As far as seat is concerned - I almost pulled the trigger on TS seat, but at the last moment learned about Spencer's Moto Seat Mods, got my stock seat modified in a week, and gotta say - I love it!:cheer:

I have recently purchased the bags connection saddlebags for the FZ6 and the Slipstream tail bag. I have them loaded for my trip tomorrow with 4 days of clothes, and raingear. Inbound (should arrive today) is the Cortech Dryver (small model) tank bag from Revzilla with the appropriate tank ring. I am certain we will get rained on at some point this weekend in Arkansas so this should be a good test. Only thing that did not make it in time will be the Madstad adjustable shield.

There is a thread started in the MODS section on this subject as well. It was authored by me and I hope to be able to write a competent review on this gear as well as my riding gear after this weekend. Photos will be taken, but I am not that great at posting them to sites sometimes. We will see how that goes.
