Looking at the two tails of newer Yamaha bikes, It looks like they might fit? I personally like the look of the XSR900 tail a little more but the under tail exhaust and where the seat meet the gas tank are my areas of concern. It looks like if i bought a subframe, seat pan and seat, i could mesh the FZ6 and XSR Subframes together to fit. Has anyone tried this or have any insight? I picked up the FZ for pretty cheap with low miles, has an Akro slip on, but i dont need to carry a passenger and am not inlove with the tail on the bike. Already ripped the front fairing off, moto bars, 7" LED headlight, ordered some fork boots, if i can get the back of the bike dialed in i feel like itll be a nice little ripper.

I searched, for hours on this setup. Ive seen the R1 swaps, proposed Ducati Monster swaps, and GSXRs but nothing on new bikes.

I wouldn't expect a plug-n-play fitment. You may need some welding done at the mounting points. Being a twin, I would also expect that the lower part of the MT-07 subframe will be narrower then the FZ. An FZ8 might be the closest, and easiest to find.

Im prepared to do some cutting and welding. ANd i was looking at the fz09 tail which is the 3cyl so it should be pretty close.

^And im open to whatver i gotta do as long as its not a crazy expensive project. I can get the subframe/seat/everything for like $300 on ebay. From there its hiding the wiring thats under our factory seat, rerouting and cleaning up, then making subframe mate up, seat line up, and figuring out what to do with the exhaust. I like the tail dump but im afraid with the FZ tail the tire will hit on suspension compression. So ill have to change the mufflers out to something a little thinner.

I’d have a side exhaust fabricated. You’ll have to figure out a cat. If you remove the center stand you should have room to adapt a cat from another bike.
