FZ6 Forum: the "smarter" forum

OT polls don`t thrill me either, but whatever... what I find annoying is that they get bumped to the top of the list if someone votes (without actually posting)... so you got polls that are weeks old that most of us forgot about that come back and back and back...

The bottom line is who cares, I should get my headlight mounted tonight, and that`s the only thing that matters in the universe lol :Sport:

Both sites have their pros and cons. I use both for different reasons. I won't bash either of them. I will say I like this site better right now because it's more civil and this place offers more threads outside of just the FZ6. I enjoy some of the topics created by folks here outside of the bike. There's only so much we can discuss regarding the FZ6 before the site becomes saturated and boring. Then you end up with a bash-fest, sarcasm and mud-slinging.

This site isn't as mature as SBN so yes, there is more information over there at the moment. One of the reasons no one mentions THIS site there is because it is againt the rules. Mention or (God forbid!) a link back to any other FZ6 site will get you scolded at SBN. I find that counter-intuitive as we are all out to gather and share FZ6 information. I think it is cool that Dennis lets us link back to SBN and even talk about it.

To each his own. I'll continue on both, thank you! :D

My bowling ball will fight for FZ6-F, and my Knife will fight for SBN. That simple. I will just wear two hats. In the end there can only be one!

Hey Eric :) agreed on the civil part... it's a different atmosphere for sure and I would compare it to a biker bar (SBN) compared to a high scale restaurant (here)... ppl will cuss and tell you how they feel on SBN... here ppl watch out and be careful to be polite when they address you... I like to jump from the bar to the restaurant... it`s fun on both sides

Also, you know there are other sub-forums on SBN right? like the open forum, the general discussion forum, the politics forum...etc... lots of non-FZ6 related stuff there as well.

The "other FZ6 forum" is mentioned on SBN all the time... no-one will say anything to you if you do mention it... even if you put a direct link I am not sure Killer would give a **** :D

Anyway, you are completely right: to each his own

Maybe, but this site has a lot of useless polls that have nothing to do with FZ6 at all or riding in general... who cares about people's favorite food or movie is ... or how many pairs of socks one owns... sheesh:)

Agreed. Though I just voted in the underwear poll. :D

I enjoy both sites. Prob still favor the other but that's mostly out of habit.

Not quite mate, U'td just beat the Chelsea in the European cup. Now that is all that matters in the universe tonight.

This thread is rediculous. :D LOL

I know the "other" forum being referred to, and it is chock full of squids. Here you get useful information to keep you alive and well informed; as opposed to there where you are told what is cool and dangerous and will end up getting you face first in the pavement.

Zealous...as in overzealous?

This is TOTAL BS, I can't believe people actually thanked him for such an unfounded generalization. Negative rep sent.

This guys does not even have an FZ6 and is brand new here...you're telling me he actually has a clue?

Something I am not a fan of is bashing other forums... you`ll never find a thread on SBN saying how it is better than the FZ6 Forum for example...

Seriously, what a joke. SBN is flattered by all the attention it gets here...it's like an everyday thing...very odd if you ask me.

Let's be fair now; SBN has MANY paying sponsors. Most all forums have the same rules. I can respect that since the rules are in place for good reason, you can't?

With that said, I appreciate the freedom we get here, for better or worse.

Well, I missed the sock poll too...but at least I get to know what kind of underwear some of you guys wear. Or don't wear!
I love this forum for the 'social aspect' also......and even though I'm not into the tech part of riding, I have picked up a couple of things.
If I had to guess, I would say that we are a little older than the 'other' guys judging by some of their threads.

Can anyone tell that this thread caught my attention???? Sorry for not putting this all in one post. And for the record, I LOVE both forums, both for many of the same reasons, but also for what makes them different.

I would say that we are a little older than the 'other' guys judging by some of their threads.

I would say SBN is just more diverse, a good thing in my book. I can say that I've met (as in ridden with them more than once) two guys in there late 60s on SBN. Go read one of the age threads over there...

Excuse me... I wasn't knocking the content here (or the content in the other forum)... just the silly polls we have here... You know the ones "do women with tattoos of polls look good in underwear".... Did ya' not see the smilie face?:):):):)

I wasn't trying to knock anyone specifically, and I guess my point got lost in the muck of a little rant. My main point is that I believe this site is alot friendlier to beginner riders, and the lighthearted polls are fine with me. I received a negative reputation point because of this thread so obviously I've pi**ed some of you off. Sorry!!!

I thanked him for parts of his post, not all statements inclusive.

Regarding mention of this site there, I've seen people be scorned, scolded and threatened to be banned there. I'm not there to see paying sponsers, I'm there to collect data and get answers. I abide by the rules but it doesn't mean I have to like them or agree. :D

I can see this really did catch your attention. Given your veteran status at SBN, I can easily see why this thread is a bit disturbing. No worries dude. Some things you just have to let roll off. I'll be honest... I cringed when I saw this thread come up because I knew it wouldn't be the kindest. :(

And yes, I do know that SBN offers other forums outside of FZ6 but people in other areas are sometimes even less friendly and more critical and sarcastic so I was less interested in stepping outside of the FZ6 forum. I do have thick skin but I'm not dumb enough to stay in a thread and take constant abuse so I just move on.

SBN still has more content, answers and information but over time, this site will equal SBN as well as others. ;)

I too like the social aspects. Need to check out the sock poll. Didn't notice that one before. With my previous bike, the forum was all about the bike. I used it when I needed a piece of info, but I didn't find myself compelled to check it frequently as I tend to for this one. So many interesting, amusing, scary little bits of data available! I recently had to impose a rule upon myself of no looking at the forum from 8am to 6pm, it was disrupting my work.

The sock and underwear poll were created after this thread (that is about to be closed) was started. Those polls are a joke. Hey canadian, I'm so glad you like my women with tattoo poll.
