Fz6 Death Engine

What was the reason behind replacing the clutch plates?

He has changed them Just for periodic maintenance.
And he says he had better clutch feeling after the new ones installed.
The old clutch plates were looking not bad when he changed, he says.

Looks like the classic overrev to me. The damage caused doesn't always lead to an immediate engine failure so if even if he wasn't pushing the engine too much "at the time" it's still likely that he caused the damage.

Engine parts don't just fail like that on production vehicles.

According to a theory of a yamaha mechanic who looked at the pictures says that, it is all about the clutch plates.

Clutch plates have stripped and parted out, then the parts coming out of them stucked the oil filter or oil ducts. Engine had lack of oil and that was the case for that broken rod.

The owner of the bike says, he has changed the clutch plates 6k km's ago with aftermarket EBC ones. He has changed the oil (Ipone 10/40 semi-synthetic) and oil filter (K&N) 3k km's ago.

Any chance someone could take some hi resolution photos and send them our way? Specifically of the other rod bearings, the crank journals at the rod bearings, and a close up of the destroyed rod journal comparing the color of the blown one to the good ones.

Was the oil screen pick up plugged? Was there anything stuck in the oil passages preventing oil flow to the bad rod?

Do you know RPM it was turning when this happened?

Thanks and tell your friend sorry. . . :(

No chance for close up photos, he already sold the bike.
He says that rpm was at the top when it happened.
One new evidence, he has used Berner brand engine protect varnish http://shop.berner.eu/berner/de/productgroup/86972/PKW/Chemie/Lackieren_Grundieren_u._Markieren/Motorschutzlack?conversationContext=1 one day before this hapeened. But this is a spray that covers the outside of the engine i guess. Can it be the case?
