Fuel pump prolbems

I have no history of the bike Its a 2005 FZ6 With 2200 miles. It was crashed and some how I own it now. I was never able to start the bike. The fuel pump works, I tested it to battery. I cant get it to come one with the key. Any ideas of what would cause this. Im installing a new kick stand sensor in a few. Maybe thats it?? Thank you

The side stand switch was going to be my first suggestion given your symptoms. An easy way to troubleshoot is to bypass the switch (I have used a simple piece of wire to jumper across the two connections in the Blue connector housing). May be worth a shot before spending the money on the switch

The rocker mounted switch on the bar run/no run red toggle is weak link also. From the above link, many things can disable the fuel pump. Good to know it actaully works, so progress through the t/s guide and let us know what you find.

Most of it can be tested with a simple 12v probe lamp but a hand held DMM would be very helpful. Also confirm the wires are not pulled from the connectors at the tank, it's easy to open it too far and yank them right out place.

I'm not sure if it would affect the bike the way your is, but being it was crashed, I'd check the "tip over switch" which is located under the right side, rear pod. You'll see a rubber mounting strap, stamped atop the switch is "up"...

+1 on Randys response re the tank wires underneath and the safety /kill switch on the handlebars...

Thanks for the fast replys. I installed a new kickstand stwich, Regardless I had to it was damaged. It didnt want to start. Next while testing the rocker mounted switch on the bar run/no run, I notticed that that a wire going to the main relay was broken off. Than I got an old connector, pulled the pin and soldered it in. Last it started right up. Thank you for the info. I will use it if have a prolbem in the future.
